Description
*Download for full size* (but I think the Full size is too big)When I uploaded this tutorial for the first time it was deleted, because Chipp Zanuff was not drawn by me. Now I was LOOKING at two Kyo sprites and did theese "elementals". I repeat, I was just LOOKING at the sprites.
This is my first (and maybe last) tutorial. It can show you how to make non-random lightning and fire. Hope you like it. ^^

I see. Do you know if there's a SAI friendly tutorial for lightning?

Sadly no, I've never worked with SAI.

Honestly one of my fav and most useful tutorials ever for lightning. Its great and easy to follow. After doing it once it never left my head and now after 2 years from original comment I still find my self using this. My latest project: gangofseven.deviantart.com/art⦠ It has been a big help and I model all my lightning from this original tutorial, thanks so much ^_^!

Extremely helpful! I have one question, though; is there a way to get the lightning alone after everything's done? Like, just the lightning without the black background so I can put the lightning in another picture?

Is this just for photoshop? If so, can you explain how to do that with sumopaint or pixlr please?

Sorry, but I don't know either of these. And it's just for Photoshop.

What is step seven? I have gimp, and it seems like this tutorial can be applied to it, but when it hit ctrl + L it takes me to the layers tab.

It is supposed to open the Levels window.

Ah right. Anyway dude this is a pretty good tutorial. I've noticed that the more you blur, ad the more detail you put inΒ theΒ difference clouds,Β the 'sparkier' the effect becomes.

Salty-art [2011-07-24 14:02:46 +0000 UTC]
on the seven step do I change the layer mode or do I leave it to normal and also do I make a define pattern on that layer or on the previous one ?
π: 0 β©: 1
KethusNadroev In reply to Salty-art [2011-07-25 18:29:07 +0000 UTC]
I don't really get the question. idk what a define pattern is, just to make sure you can set all the layers to multiply.

This is great! Just one question: I use GIMP, since it doesn't really work on CS5. Can you tell me what ctrl + L does with your version of PS? It does something totally different in GIMP. Thanks so much!

ctrl+L brings you to Image->Adjustments->Levels

When I put the fire on screen mode, I can barely see it.
π: 0 β©: 1
KethusNadroev In reply to TheIriDesci [2011-02-19 19:51:25 +0000 UTC]
That's because the fire isn't bright enough. Just duplicate (ctrl+j) the layer a few times.

"When you finish your lightning/fire, merge all layers into one, copy the new layer into the desired picture and set it to "Screen"!"

AuraSeal In reply to KethusNadroev [2011-02-15 15:19:14 +0000 UTC]
is there anyway you could show me how to do it via teamveiw?
π: 0 β©: 1
KethusNadroev In reply to AuraSeal [2011-02-16 16:17:28 +0000 UTC]
No o.o
If you understand the entire tutorial you should've been able to understand that. Press ctrl+e to merge the selected layers. Setting something to "screen" is done the same as setting it to "multiply" (but "screen" is like the opposite of "multiply")

Very helpful! but one question. for the fire, what do you meant to set it to "multiply"? i think i mised that.
π: 0 β©: 1
KethusNadroev In reply to madlyinlov3 [2011-01-19 14:30:59 +0000 UTC]
There should be a drop list in the layers tab, where it says "Normal".
