Β One Punch Man was originally a terribly drawn webcomic but caught the eyes of a famous mangaka who offer to redo the comic for him.

I know of a few artists on DA and the like who fit this bill, sadly.
Doesn't have to be good, it just has to feed the public's desire for T&A and/or guns.

the sad thing is. there are a lot of artists like that making a good living of at that while better artist struggle :/

Well, I'm *trying* to make a living at this. But so far, I'm having quite a few speedbumps because Dropbox has the nerve to charge me more than I'd make at a minimum wage job and Paypal hates me for some reason.

I'd laugh at anyone who tried to tell you this now.

It seems to have a lot to do with an artist being in the right place at the right time, or knowing the right people. And I think speed of production might have something to do with it, too-- like if someone can produce a huge number of comics or whatever quickly and they're still conveying what needs to be conveyed, a publisher might go with them over someone who produces quality art but has trouble making deadlines.
Doesn't make this any less depressing though. :'D

Do you have an agent? Publications? I keep seeing comic strips that aren't a tenth of the quality you produce, and these guys live off their strips. It's insulting that this isn't your main source of income. I don't understand it. If you have any rational explanation, I'm all ears.
