Description TO SEE THE FULL TUTORIAL, YOU WILL NEED TO HIT THE 'DOWNLOAD' BUTTON ON THE TOP LEFT BESIDE THE IMAGE

PLEASE NOTE:
This is JUST a basic plush - nothing fancy - and most of all, as by the nickname I give them - flat plush - they aren't very 3D.

These kinds of plushies are designed for:

1) People with not much time on their hands to spend hours on a more complicated plush toy.
2) People who don't own a sewing machine and would like to try making a plush.
3) People who can only get hold of cheap materials - felt plushies with acrylic paint details are good for these.
4) People who just want to try making a plush toy for the first time.

Notes about the Plush themselves:

1) They are NOT made for young children - they are more for people who want them as displays/ornaments for their shelves/beds ect.
2) They CAN be cuddled, but as is the set-back with felt fabric, they will start to deteriate over time - so you need to be gentle with them (also note - the more paint you add onto their bodies, the less 'cuddly' they will be).
3) After you sew the basic body, these plushies are fun to customise however you want (hair, clothes ect) - this is where a hot glue gun and a fun imagination comes in handy for things like the hair.

And please also take note: I am in NO way a great plushie maker - this is much better for people who just want to give it a go and not for people who are advanced (and far above my level, I'm sure. ).

I hopefully want to follow up with a second (and maybe 3rd?) part to this on clothes, hair and other bits for the plush, but we shall see as time goes on (if so, I'll put them all together and form a tutorial for my main gallery).

Feel free to ask questions, though I may not get the time to reply. Also, if it's something I've already answered above, I'm afraid I'll have to ignore it as if you can't take the time to read what I've already written, I can't take the time to reply.

I'm also sorry that the photos are darker from the third photo onwards...those were taken at night and...the lighting in my room is crap. XD

Oh yes! This is a plush I'm currently working on in a trade with - it will, eventually, be a Demyx. I'll include a zip and chains on his coat and (may) make a Sitar too if I have time. X3

mmkay I have a question.
say you are extremely broke, but would like to make a plushie.
would the kind of felt from the dollar store work or should I get it somewhere else?

P.S I love the tutorial = P

At most craft store you can get a 12 X 8 in. (I am roughly estimating here, size wise) like, 4 sheets for a dollar, unless it have print or glitter on it. But basic colors are pretty cheap. But you probably need to go to a craft or fabric store to get felt.

Wee! Love this tutorial!
I had a little go with it, it's the newest thing in my gallery. Didn't come out *quite* the same though.

How exactly do you attach your hair? I tried superglue, which just fell straight off, and ended up sewing it, which looks terrible.

Thanks again for making this! *tacklehugs*

I use a hot glue gun - if you don't have one, I honestly suggest getting one because it is one of the best investments for stuff like plushies, cosplay props ect. :3

Ooh, crazy modern technologies.
I guess I'll pick one up if I ever venture into this plushie business again.
Thanks!

Oh, I can't wait to see the next one! I always wanted to make one, but I wasn't sure I could clothes it well- felt can be painted with acrylics?? That's awesome! That way, I don't need to make every detail of the clothes! *loves youuu*

Also, how do you do your eyes? Or will that be in a later tutorial?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

KeyshaKitty In reply to Flower-North [2007-02-11 02:39:18 +0000 UTC]

Nope, it's up to you how you do the eyes - just paint on your style.

But I mean, did you put a white piece of felt on top of the beige? :3 *is all psyched*

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

KeyshaKitty In reply to Flower-North [2007-02-13 00:05:05 +0000 UTC]

Nope. Just painted in the white, then put the next layer for the pupils and such over when it had dried.
