Description NO PHOTOSHOP NEEDED!

Hopefully people who use markers may find this of some help. It takes practice to get markers to work well in your favour, although even the best of us will get marker ink bleeding over our inking lines a little.

I put this tutorial together to show you how I tidy up minor bleeds in my marker peices without taking it into photoshop. True, you can use a computer program to tidy up the scan but...I happen to like the original to look nice and clean as well, and want to rely on the computer as little as possible (some people don't even have programs like photoshop, which makes things even harder for them).

PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE ASKING ME ABOUT THE GEL PEN: I REALLY can't help you out on where to buy them, as I don't live in America/UK/Australia ect, and I don't know of online sites either. All I can tell you is that I like to use the brand of Gel Pen called 'Hybrid', if you want to use that kind, you need to research where to find it yourself. :3

EDIT: The webpage changed their layout, in any case, there are some white gel pens that can be bought here: [link]

I use coloured pencils a lot; what d'you want to know?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

CoyoteShivers In reply to chibixestella [2008-06-11 20:09:44 +0000 UTC]

how to fill in the colors more, to make thaem more vibrant... you can see in my drawing, a lack in that...but when ever i push the pencil down harder, the page rips or i get streaks in my drawing...

KeyshaKitty In reply to CoyoteShivers [2008-06-10 22:31:17 +0000 UTC]

Afraid not, sorry. :< I don't use them as much as they're usually only highlighting tools. I think the best bet if it's an issue like this (falling over the lines) is to try and rub out some of the pencil and then apply the next colour over the top, though you will still get some colour mixing. White Gel Pen can also be used over pencils like PrismaColor ones, though because they are waxy, you will keep having to un-clog the gel pen a lot. X3

KeyshaKitty In reply to lilmissmanga [2008-06-10 22:23:01 +0000 UTC]

I just used marker. :3 It takes practice, but they're great for getting a smooth, flat colour with traditional media.

mithrandirff7 In reply to lilmissmanga [2008-06-10 19:51:08 +0000 UTC]

(This may answer your question, hopefully)
The markers used are called Copic Sketch markers. I have a few of them, so I can tell you that yes, they really do look that smooth on paper. They're very expensive, but obviously very good markers. If you're serious about non-photoshopped artwork, you should try getting some!

Thankyou so much for the help! I might start saving up- do you know if they're available over in England?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

mithrandirff7 In reply to lilmissmanga [2008-06-11 22:22:26 +0000 UTC]

You probably won't find them laying around in a store, because they're Japanese specialty markers. However, I do have a website that you can order them from, and I believe it ships to the UK. Try here:
