Description
Ever since Savannahs started emerging in Africa the only known location where stegosaurs survived the Cretaceous paleogene extinction, their habitats have been limited to the few humid subtropical areas of the continentΒThis already puts pressure on their population numbers, so when humans came into the scene, the rest was history. Today, only three species of stegosaurs are still extant, and all of them are facing their demise from poaching. Their plates fetch a high price in places like China where it's believed that they have beneficial medicinal properties. The first couple of small plates are what the poachers really after, because people want to have that iconic plate in a soup picture. Adults are also less likely to be hunted because of their size and how tough their plates are, instead it is the infants that are being killed for their young soft plates.

You'll need a super-tiny stegosaur-plate for this soup - or an enormous giant bowl of soup. XD

The funny thing is that Stegosaurus plates are solid bone there is hardly any meat on there.

Oh wow, this actually kind of pisses me off. It's a great piece, but the idea of poaching a dinosaur if they ever were found would be unforgivable

So Stegosaurus are counterparts of shark mixed with rhinoceros? Sad truth..

How would the human culture be affected had the dinosaurs lived with us for a long time. Jesus this is so sci-fi looking, nearly dystopian.
Your work is just goddamn awesome.Β

I love that stegosaurus figurine in the upper image! Really sells this scenario as a realistic one... though it is already pretty realistic :C

The worse part is that Shark fin soup, has no flavor according to Ramsay.Β

Pay a grand to get shank! You know, cause you're wasting fortunes on something that doesn't even have any worth, unless it was alive.Β

As sad (and, unfortunately, realistic) as this is, considering the breeding habits of large herbivorous dinosaurs, the killing of young animals is probably better for the population than the killing of breeding adults.

You are right. Dinosaurs produced large numbers of infants, such as living turtles or crocs, and faced high infant mortality rates.

know what the sad part is?
this would TOTALLY happen if they were alive today

What a realistic and gritty image you are shaping of this shared world between humans and dinosaurs ...Β
The display on top is really well drawn but also kinda heart wrenching
The soup looks tasty but is also kinda cruel (just the same as we do with sharks and turtles actually, but I never touch those soups)
Are the small dinosaurs the range has (the little feathery bois) are they wild ones or are they trained by park rangers?

Such sad things that happen so frequently, you'd think humans would learn soon enough to stop extinction-izing animals considering we are the only ones wo can feel guilty about it and actually can do something about it.

Would that be like eating cartilage?
Or is this literally bone soup?

Literally bone soup. Stegosaurus plates are actually a part of its vertebrae
Good luck sinking your teeth in it!!

The question is if it is solid bone or not.
If not they would make a good broth. Though a leg would be a much nicer choice.
But if anything on it tasted like a "Gazebo" then it would be too strong a temptation for me.
Basically its the shoulder hump of a cow. A spongy muscle used to store energy but its not fat and is chewy served with curry type soup-
Okay im done.

For me, I think Stegosaurus plate are rather bony and hard since they fossilize. Unless you have a teeth of steel then...

Fossils are not actual bone and you can eat marrow, but I guess you're right they probably were just slabs of bone.
Has it been discovered why they have them yet?

Fargusno In reply to TheWatcherofWorlds [2019-03-01 04:01:06 +0000 UTC]
Stegosaurus use their plates to regulate heat and to protect its back. Some has extra defense such as back spikes like Kentrosaurus or even long shoulder spikes like Tuojiangosaurus

Are there blood vessels in them?
I recall they would also be effective for display structures
