Chapter 4: Reforged From Debris
It was a long journey. Envy and the group did encounter many surprises along the way. They had to walk through a dark forest full of unfriendly monsters. They had to deal with a bunch of spitting llamas in the savanna. They did find some interesting rewards in a few desert temples, though sometimes it didn’t end well. Not only that, but they also came across some villages that were in need of help. In the end, they were rewarded with weapons like they’ve never seen before such as magic weapons, full sets of enchanted diamond armor, and more. For transportation, the girls mostly took the minecart stations. Sometimes, they walked if they had to. Before they could go to the temple however, they first needed a special pickaxe with the best enchantments in all the land. According to Ivan, the Ore of Worlds could only be mined open with a super enchanted pickaxe made from a rare metal called netherite. The issue was that getting the required enchantments for the pickaxe would take forever, and netherite could only be found in a dimension known as the Nether. Luckily, the girls already acquired a pickaxe with such enchantments after saving a village from one of Drax’s armies. The pickaxe was given to them as a reward. However, it was a diamond pickaxe. The girls had no choice but to go to the Nether and find some netherite to reforge the pickaxe. One day, the girls are walking through a sunflower field. According to the photographic images of the map, they were only halfway to the temple.
“Any lava?” Sombra asked. Envy flew up high and looked around the land from above. She then gilded back down.
“Nope.” Envy said with disappointment.
“God dammit!” Bonnie said in anger. “ How the hell are we supposed to go to the Nether if we can’t even get obsidian!?”
“There’s gotta be some lava around here somewhere, Bonnie.” Sombra said. Eventually, the girls found themselves in a forest. Siss then noticed a structure behind the trees.
“Guys, look over there!” she said as she pointed at the structure. As they got closer, they could see that it was a ruined nether portal.
“No fricking way!” Bonnie said.
“A ruined nether portal!” Envy cried.
“I knew we would find one!” Siss said. Sombra then noticed that some parts of the portal were missing.
“Guys, wait!” she cried. “This portal is incomplete.”
“Well what the f**k are we supposed to do now!?” Bonnie said. Envy then noticed a chest sitting on the left side of the portal. She opened it and found some obsidian, a flint and steel, and a full set of golden armor.
“Guys, look at all this stuff I found!” she cried.
“Envy, this is not the time to dig for treasure.” Bonnie said.
“No, I found more obsidian! We can complete the portal!” Envy said.
“Nevermind then.” Bonnie said. Envy placed a piece of obsidian in all the missing spots of the portal. After that, she lit the portal with the flint and steel. The portal glowed in a purple light.
“Come on, guys. Let’s go.” Envy said as she walked into the portal, fearless.
“Envy, wait!” Siss cried.
“Well, what are we waiting for? After her!” Bonnie said. Her, Sombra and Siss walk through. On the other side, the girls found themselves in a world with fire and lava everywhere.
“Whoa!” all of them go, except for Sombra.
“Yeah, it’s pretty interesting. I’ve been here thousands of times.” Sombra said.
“Wait, you’ve been here before?” Envy asked.
“Yeah.” Sombra answered. “Don’t ask how I got down here though. That’s none of your concern.”
“Uh, ok…..” Envy said. “Now, the netherite should be deep below the surface. If we can find a cave, we can-”
“Uhh, who the heck are those guys?” Bonnie said as she pointed at something approaching in the distance. All of them look and see a mob of piglins approaching with weapons in hand.
“Piglins!” Envy cried. Everyone stood their ground, preparing for a brawl. Just then, one of the piglins gave a halt with his hand. He then turned to Sombra. The piglin was wearing a horned gold helmet that covered his face and gilded black armor. When he took it off of his head, he had a black beard and scars all over his face. He also had a golden nose ring in his snout
“Sombra?” the piglin said as he recognized her.
“Wait, Gary?!” Sombra cried.
“Well, what the hell!? Come over here!” Gary said. Sombra teleported towards him and hugged him. Gary patted her on the back.
"I'm sorry, what?" Bonnie said in confusion.
"Guys, this is Gary." Sombra said as she introduced Gary. "The leader of the Crimson Snouts, and my friend. Gary, this is Envy, Bonnie, and Siss."
"It's nice to meet you." Envy said. Gary looked at Envy with a menacing look.
"You know, we're not friendly with outsiders like you around here." Gary said as he cracked his knuckles. Envy felt paralyzed for a second. Just then, Gary and the other piglins burst in laughter. "You should’ve seen the look on your face! That was priceless!"
"Oh Gary, quit playing around." Sombra said as she punched his shoulder.
"Aww come on, Sombra. You have to admit that was funny." Gary said.
“Yeah, I guess that was pretty good.” Bonnie said.
“So, what brings you down here?” Gary asked.
“Remember the war I told you that’s going on in the Overworld?” Sombra asked.
“Uh huh.” Gary answered. Envy then showed him the photographs of the map.
“Our enemies have found a map to something called the Earth Pearl and-” Envy explained before Gary stopped her.
“Whoa! Whoa! Whoa! Did you say the Earth Pearl?” Gary asked, concerned.
“Wait, you know about the Earth Pearl too?” Envy asked.
“Of course we do.” Gary said. “We’ve heard many tales about the 8 Elemental Gems and their great power.”
“Anyways, it’s inside an ore that can only be mined by a netherite pickaxe with the best enchantments out there.” Envy continued. “We already have a diamond one with said enchantments.”
“What we’re trying to say Gary, is can we please borrow some of your netherite if you have any?” Sombra asked.
“Hmmm, we’ll have to discuss this at the bastion.” Gary answered. “Come on, we’ll show your new friends around the place.” Eventually, the group arrived at the Crimson Snouts’ bastion remnant as they walked across a bridge over lava. However, there was something wrong with the outside of the structure. It almost looked as if the place was attacked. “What the!” Gary cried. Just then, a piglin brute ran towards the group from the entrance.
“Chief! Thank goodness you’re here!” the piglin brute yelled.
“Taki, what’s going on?” Gary asked.
“It’s the Legion of Ash!” Taki said. “They’re attacking the bastion!”
“What?!” Gary cried. “Grrrr Aaa! Those charbroiled bastards!”
“Gary, what’s wrong?” Sombra asked.
“No time to explain, we’ve got invaders!” Gary answered. The piglins then charged into the bastion. The girls followed behind them. On the inside, the place was infested with skeletons. Wither skeletons. They were all attacking the piglins.
“Umm, Sombra?” Bonnie asked. “Mind explaining what the hell’s going on in here!?”
“No time for that, Bonnie!” Envy said. “Come on, we gotta help them! Split up!” And with that, the girls jumped down into different sections of the bastion. At the fire pit, a wither skeleton was about to slice a piglin’s head off until Bonnie shot their head off with her iron crossbow. She then landed on top of the wither skeleton.
“You’re welcome.” Bonnie said to the piglin before reloading her crossbow. More wither skeletons approached her. Meanwhile, Siss landed in the middle of a mob of wither skeletons. They all stared awkwardly at each other and then laughed at her. Siss then smacked one of them with her vine whip. The wither skeletons then charged at her, but then Siss used a golem kit she kept with her. Doing so, she summoned an iron golem to crush them into ash. The wither skeletons then screamed for their afterlives as the iron golem chased after them.
“Oh thank God!” Siss sighed in relief. Meanwhile, Envy flew from corridor to corridor, annihilating the wither skeletons like an assassin. A wither skeleton from below tried to shoot her, but she kicked the arrows away with her feet. Envy then taunted the wither skeleton by shaking her ass at him.
“Catch me if you can!” she said. Just then, more wither skeletons with bows and arrows showed up and opened fire at her. Envy then swooped down with her diamond sword in hand and used her darkrune magic to light the sword with an ominous fire. She then slashed away at the archers. At the bottom, Gary and his minions were struggling. There were too many wither skeletons. Gary stood still with his netherite sword in hand. Just then, Sombra came in and swung her lightning rod, striking the wither skeletons with lightning bolts. One of them dropped an explosive weapon called a soul harvester. Sombra picked it up.
“Thanks.” Gary said.
“Don’t worry, I’ve got your back!” Sombra said, as more of the wither skeletons closed in. Finally, the wither skeletons retreated. The piglins and the girls celebrated over their victory. Later, in the blacksmith room, Gary and the girls had a conversation with each other as they waited for the netherite pickaxe to be done.
“So those weirdos were here to take everything?” Bonnie asked.
“Yup.” Gary answered.
“But why though?” Siss asked.
“They’re just a bunch of assholes.” Gary said. “Also, you’re like one of those creeper things, right?”
“Y..yes…” Siss said.
“Aren’t you supposed to explode or something?” Gary asked.
“Oh uh, I do, but….I don’t want to talk about it.” Siss answered.
“I see,” Gary said. “Just asking.”
“By the way, you seem to know a lot about the 8 Elemental Gems.” Envy said. “What else do you know about them?”
“Well let’s see….” Gary said. “We’ve read about them from the many ancient ruins that are scattered everywhere. However, there is said to be a gem hidden somewhere in this dimension. I can’t remember what it was called, but I think it was the Fire Opal.”
“Well that makes sense.” Bonnie said.
“I’ve always imagined what it would be like to actually hold an Elemental Gem.” Gary said. “To feel incredible power move through your veins. To……actually become…..a god.” There was a brief moment of silence. “Wait, no no no. That would probably be bad. I don’t know.” The blacksmith then approached with the netherite pickaxe.
“Chief, the pickaxe is done.” the blacksmith said.
“Ah, excellent!” Gary said as he took the pickaxe and gave it to Envy. Envy marveled at the beauty of their new pickaxe. It was like looking at a tool forged by the gods.
“Wow! Thanks, Gary!” Envy said.
“Anytime.” Gary said. “By the way, where are y’all heading to, up there?”
“We’re going to this place called the Temple of Notch. It’s super far away and we’ve only made it halfway there.” Sombra explained.
“Damn, your feet must hurt.” Gary said.
“Tell me about it!” Bonnie said.
“How come you asked?” Envy asked.
“I think we might be able to take you there.” Gary said. “Come with me.” In another room was a completed nether portal. “So even though we don’t go to the Overworld, we do know how to set the portal’s destination.”
“Really?!” Siss asked.
“Yes, it’s simple. Where are y’all heading to again?” Gary asked.
“The Temple of Notch.” Envy answered.
“So what do we have to do?” Bonnie asked.
“Simple, all you have to do is focus on your soul and think of where you want to go. Give it a shot, Envy.”
"Me? I've never done something like this before." She said. "I guess I’ll give it a shot." Envy took the flint and steel. As she stood in front of the portal, she went into deep focus. She then lit the portal. And walked through.
"Envy, where are you going!?" Siss cried. She then ran after her.
"Siss, wait!" Bonnie yelled as she ran after her.
"Oh no. Umm thanks, Gary. Gotta catch up with them!" Sombra said as she quickly ran into the portal.
"Good luck!" Gary said. He then sighed and said "Ha, I love that girl." On the other side, the portal materialized in the middle of a thick jungle. Envy stepped out from the portal. As she looked around the jungle, she noticed that it was also night time. The other 3 then bursted out from the portal.
“Guys!” Envy cried.
“Envy, you’re ok!” Siss said.
“Envy, what the hell were you thinking just going through a random portal!?” Bonnie said.
“Sorry, guys. I don’t know what came over me.” Envy said.
“Well, we’re glad you’re ok.” Sombra said
“Where the hell are we anyways?” Bonnie asked as she looked around the dark jungle.
“Yeah, I can’t see a thing.” Siss said.
“We appear to be in some sort of jungle.” Envy answered.
“No sh*t, Sherlock!” Bonnie cried.
“The temple must be close.” Sombra said.
“How do you know that?” Bonnie asked. “We don’t even know if that portal is even accurate!”
“Gary has told me that the portals always bring you nearby your destination.” Sombra answered. “Though, not many people know this tactic exists.”
“Guys, can we please stop here for the night? I’m tired!” Siss moaned.
“No, Siss.” Bonnie said. “Right now, we’re trying to figure out where the hell we are! Sombra, we have to go back.”
“But this is it! The Temple of Notch should be close by!” Sombra said.
“We don’t know that! We don’t even know if your pig friend is telling the truth or not!” The two then argued at each other for the next few seconds until Envy had to put an end to it.
“Hey! Both of you, stop it!” Envy yelled. Sombra, Bonnie, and Siss look at her. “Do you hear that?” Envy asked.
“Hear what, Envy?” Bonnie asked. The sounds of loud chattering echo from the jungle. The four of them followed the source of the sound, all the way to an opening. From a hill, the girls could see a campsite going across a stone pathway. That wasn’t what caught their attention though. What they were really looking at was a small mountain with a huge stone door.
“Could it be?” Siss said.
“The Temple of Notch!” Envy said calmly.
