Description
This is just to show you what these reviews are gonna be like; I call attention to an obscure or unknown work and give my thoughts on it before moving onto the scoring.I recently decided to track down this lost pilot from Nick's Oh Yeah! Cartoons series, a pilot showcase series that many know for the place where shows like Chalk Zone, My Life as a Teenage Robot, and Fairly OddParents originally debuted. Among a few other the missed potential we got was Zoo Mates, a show created by Butch Hartman and Seth MacFarlane--no, that really happened, look it up--another pilot from Hartman called the Kid From S.C.H.O.O.L., which seemed a lot like if Butch Hartman created Codename: Kids Next Door with James Bond and a bit of Fillmore, and even a few short lived series like Mina and the Count. Ultimately, though, I decided to go with this one: Magic Trixie. If you really want to know my thoughts here we go:
Plot- The concept behind this short is that a little girl named Trixie (who only seems to have one line in the entire episode, and I wonder if that was the idea for the show or if that's just how this episode was written) who goes to a magic show to see a great magician Migmar Magma, who sounds like the name of a Zatara villain and kinda looks like Mumbo Jumbo from Teen Titans (coincidence?). Migmar chooses her to be his assistant on stage, but she incidentally ends up upstaging him at every turn, no matter what he tries to do.
Characters- The characters are really fun, especially Trixie who is absolutely adorable in her naivety and most of her one-upping Migmar seems almost accidental. It's very cute, and has a lot of really funny jokes, mostly sight gags that play around with the animation a lot. The designs and animation are very well made and simple, the artstyle kinda reminds me of a very vintage look from the late 40's-early 50's. I really like it and it all moves very fluidly for handdrawn animation of the time.
Enjoyment- I loved this pilot from the very start: the expressive character designs, the classical and fluid art style, the adorable main character, it's a fantastic episode and if you can I would strongly recommend tracking it down...though it was a pain in the ass to track down!
Creativity- I would say this is extremely creative with all the really great moments of animation, and just how funny the visual jokes are (there's a part were Migmar tries pulling out a ball he'd planted in Trixie's hat before the show, and she ends up pulling out various farm animals...even a tractor; or another moment when she just whistles until she finds the right musical note to unlock her chains in an escape act).
Execution- I feel like they really carried this show farther than it could be taken, and I would've been really curious if there were other episodes (or, who knows, maybe they would've kept a similar premise of a girl with unknown magical talent and taken that to whole new heights) but as it stands this one definitely gets a pass!
Final Score- Plot: 5, Characters: 10, Enjoyment: 7, Creativity: 7, Execution: 8= 37 + Extra Credit (1 Star for great characterization, 1 Star for relative obscurity, and 1 Star for involvement of Alex Kirwan, character designer for shows like Gravity Falls, The Mighty B!, and My Life as a Teenage Robot, and Rob Renzetti)= 55 (if any of the bars pass the purple, into legendary gold it receives a full star and an extra 5 Bonus Points).

How coolio of you to give a review on this! Maybe Eduard Nochkoshmar will be voiced by Grant Palmer, the original Lincoln Loud. He'll be like an male Gwen (from Total Drama).

Yes, but she is just as adorable. I didn't mention this before in the review but the pilot has this kinda washed-out color palette, but it kinda works towards the style. I'm not sure if this would've benefitted from a full season but we could've gotten at least a few more shorts.

I suppose the muted color palette is pretty similar, though the animation and character designs are probably closer to...I wanna say early seasons of...something like Fairly OddParents but it's not that.

Well, originally I found this on YouTube (I think it was posted on Channel Fredator originally, but it's not there anymore). I was able to track this one down by scouring the Internet, and finding a few streaming sites like Kisscartoon.me (where I'll link you to the episode that features the Magic Trixie pilot, as well as a few other pilots and a Fairly OddParents short) but I don't know what else to tell you. I wish I could be more helpful, but since it's not on YouTube anymore just type in oh yeah cartoons Magic Trixie, and you will eventually find it like I did.
