Bizarrely, I didnβt find myself disgusted by all of the gross out. Having seen animal documentaries most of my life has desensitized me to that kinda stuff mostly. No, it was Ren himself that made me find this so loathsome

Much like the rest of Adult Party Cartoon, the point of this episode leaves me utterly confused. I find myself having to go back to that eternal question that nobody ever seems to know how to answer: "Who was this for?" This episode especially but APC in general was built on the idea of "Ren & Stimpy, with almost no censorship and no restraint; untamed, uncut, and unrated" and yet there's nothing about it that's actually funny or even entertaining. It's somehow MORE juvenile than the version INTENDED for kids--something which kinda feels like a weird paradox.

Cuz, if it's the latter, I highly disagree--I'd say Legends of Chamberlain Heights is WAY worse (though, zero budget Alice in Wonderland is unquestionably the worst possible animation you can ever find, you really can't "fail" if you don't try in the first place).

Maybe that's what happened to Charlie Sheen. okay, I know his problems stemmed from some other stuff but I'm willing to bet that he just sat down and watched this particular cartoon and spent the better part of a decade trying to find an alcohol strong enough or a substance potent and dangerous enough to wash it from his memory. Somehow it makes a little too much sense when I lay it all out (at least to me it does).

Yeah. I bet Nickelodeon thought that "he co-wrote a Ren & Stimpy episode! we use the stock production music and Ren & Stimpy does too! hell yeah we need more Richard Pursel! No Nickelodeon, it's Adult Party Cartoon, possibly the worst ever from Ren & Stimpy.

Yeah, considering Richard Pursel ALSO wrote the worst episodes of SpongeBob it's entirely possible he probably did more of the work on this. While none of the APC episodes are all that...watchable, this is the unquestionably worst episode.Β

Ren and Stimpy was never as fucked up as this episode.
I mean, it was fucked up during the Nick era, but it also injected some heart and humor to balance out the disturbing shit. This episode is just fucked up from the beginning to the middle to the end......for absolutely no reason.

Both Richard Pursel (who's resume includes both A Pal for Gary AND Pet Sitter Pat) and John K himself wrote this episode, so it's hard to tell who did most of the legwork and fucked up the episode this bad.

I don't know what to say, but I am thankful that I have never seen this episode. I used to watch it as a kid (yes, sometimes I just used to sit down and watch junk shows all day, and I didn't get traumatized by them, I found them funny...I now realize how sick were those cartoons I watched...yuck xD) and there were some really really gross stuff in it, that is what I can recall...And I did not understand all of the things, but reading your description wow...I won't watch it ever. I am extremely sensitive when animal cruelty comes into picture, and this horrible creepypasta-looking episode would cause me nigthmares. Thank you for doing this infamy series, so I can save myself from running into some shit.

That's the intention of this series, protecting people from absolute shit or stuff like this. This isn't part of the original Ren & Stimpy Show canon, but a completely separate series made for Spike-TV's animation block called Ren & Stimpy: Adult Party Cartoon, a series meant to have all the original charm, humor, and gross-out of the original R&S, but without any censorship and thus freedom to do anything they wanted with it...which, because it's an adult cartoon, means cramming as many sex and shit jokes into 22 minutes as legally allowed. The show lasted less than 10 episodes, and NONE of them are any good, probably the best one is either Altruists or Fire Dogs 2 but they're just better by comparison.Β

Oh, I see now. I didn't know that there was this series, thank God (or my common sense). Honestly, I don't know why the creators of "adult cartoons" think unfunny shit and sexual jokes would make a series good. Or unneccesary cruelty, and I actually like gore and dark themes to a point, I even use them in my own writings, like how I killed off my character named Roxanne... But creating a nauceous creepypasta which would definitely make me to vomit my whole lunch into the toilet...Ugh.

I too enjoy and utilize dark themes (even though I can sometimes worry that I get TOO dark), and extreme graphic violence is almost the entire point of my series; not to Violence Jack levels or something, but probably around Hellsing Ultimate or Elfen Lied zone.

There's a lot of conflicting sources that say whether the extreme abundance of "mature" imagery, themes, and humor was Spike-TV's idea or John K's, but John has gone on record saying that it wasn't his fault and there's just as many sources that contradict THAT as well (especially given Kricflalusy's reputation of being infamously difficult to work with). However, this episode was also written by Richard Pursel so it's hard to tell who did most of the heavy lifting here.

It's not paced well and it really doesn't have much of a purpose, like they only made this so John K could proudly say that he made an animated snuff film; if he just had to cross that off his bucket list, then fine at least he got it out of his system.

The difference between this Ren and the original is that Nick knew to give Ren redeeming qualities. And he also had reasons to be angry, while this Ren is just sadistic.
