Yeesh, took me long enough to get this done! Anyways, I made up my own kind of elf; their markings are always the same color as their eyes. So original, I know.
I hope they're all different enough. I tried to get some different chin, nose, and eye shapes in there.
Please tell me which is your favorite! I'd love to know what you think!

Many artists fall into the "sameface" trap when making teenage characters (Well, concidering they're elves, I presume they're probably hundreads of years old but you know what I mean by "teenage") But those profiles are definitely distinctive from one another.
As for my favorite, probably the one in the middle, can't really explain why though

Yes, I did try to avoid giving them too-similar facial structures. I'm also thinking of (eventually) doing a full body turnaround of that middle guy.

I like the step by step and the colors, the tribal motif is cool, but I think that the facial proportions look a little off. The overall piece is really neat and I get that this was very much a bust based challenge but I think you should do a full body design for each.

I know that their proportions aren't quite realistic, but I was aiming for a cartoony/stylized feel in order to make them look more individualized. I do get what you're saying though.
And I actually wanted to use these designs as future characters, so I probably will get around to making a full body drawing for all of them one day. (Perhaps I should do that turn-around challenge for them...)

no problem, I get the whole cartoony type style you were going for, and I don't think you have this problem. However I know of a lot of people who do cartoony styles (or more popularly anime) who don't know how to do proper anatomy and are there fore only screwing themselves in the long run. (Repeat: based on what I've seen I don't think this is a problem for you I am just trying to add context), I have been guilty of this I will admit.

Yes, I've read a tutorial on how people learn to draw based on an already stylized source (anime, for example) and thus they don't understand how real anatomy works. I admit that I learned to draw from anime as well, but since I took an art class during middle school, I've learned things like proportion that I try to include in my own "style." It's a process of personal growth, I think.
