Description
In the depths of Star Fort Lycurgos, the forces of the Severan Dominate find an Imperial Guard position better defended than they had hoped.I'm still not feeling like I'm really back "in the swing of things" as far as drawing goes, but working on this at least felt like it was a step in the right direction. The last session of Only War (where we are making our way through the "No Surrender" adventure path) was an entertaining one, with several near-misses for character deaths and a return to form regarding crazy plans ("They have a Stormlord!? Well...we'll just hijack one of their Devil Dogs and shoot them with their own guns then!") that have, so far, managed to advance the party, albeit with a growing trail of NPC Guardsmen corpses behind them (all acceptable, as far as the Imperial Guard is concerned). The Commissar in question actually ended up separated from the main team due to some rather destructive missile fire, but she still managed to find plenty of enemy soldiers to berate, so I think it worked out pretty well.
Her player claimed that he wouldn't have been able to do much against a super-heavy tank with a chainsword even if he had stuck with the rest of the group...but I think he would have liked to give it a try.

I like the overall composition of this, but the line weight isn't quite working for me--I see that you're using it to indicate "shadowed" areas, but the result is that my eye is drawn immediately to things like pauldrons and hems rather than more important elements like faces. Β I think this would be a fairly easy thing to adjust if you were so inclined, though. Β Great sense of action, however--I can read the scene very easily.

I really think this one needs color...I think I envisioned it with colors in mind, and it just feels incomplete without it. π: 0 β©: 1
Maybe it's the lines that make me feel like that.Β I hadn't considered that possibility...

Yeah, color might definitely change things around. Β If you do decide to color this one, I'll be very interested to see how it turns out!

I need to schedule a weekend sometime just to work on coloring things - I'm so behind on that it's disheartening.

Sympathies--I'm completely behind on art in general, and given that I'm about to launch into NaNoWriMo (I owe my agent a partial and I'm hoping to dredge up something, *anything*, that I can work into one for her), it's not getting better anytime soon. Β I hope you have better luck finding time than I do!

I made a list of things I need to accomplish, and have placed it somewhere that I will not be able to avoid it easily.
I'm really hoping that will help.
But I'm keeping my fingers crossed just the same.

Guard versus Guard? What in the Warp is going on here?

In the Only War Spinward Front campaign one of the main enemies are the Severan Dominate, a sector-wide insurrection that considers itself the only true loyalists to the Imperium of Man.Β Of course the Guard was sent in to 'correct' their misconceptions...
Via chainsword.

Sounds like another case of treason. Let 'em have it.
Good work, by the way. Keep it up.

The PCs involved are certainly making a good show of it so far.
And thanks - I'm glad you like the results.
