this was very interesting to look at, thank you for sharing! I must say, I am surprised. I have always thought your art was intricate, but never truly appreciated the process behind it!
I wouldn't exactly say it is an "easy" technique- a fair amount of control is needed, and yours looks especially neat and organized- but, it is definitely the sort of technique which, once you get into, will be absolutely fun. I like this a lot! I want to try it myself! and man, look at all those cool stuff you're using- I've never once thought about using masking fluid, or cotton paper... also, your paints look rather expensive. Are they? I use cheap, basic watercolour for my stuff- for the colour to pop I rely on photoshop to add contrast. But in yours, they pop immediately, even though it's just a photograph! So beautiful.
Is this a technique you developed by yourself, by the way? It's so ingenious!
Thank you again for sharing <3

Thanks dear! I'm glad you found it interesting!^^
The paints are somewhat expensive yes, but I get a discount from the art store I work at so they can be up to half the price. :3 I used to paint with cheap pans but the paints make a big difference omnom. *A*
As for the negative painting technique, nay, I just stumbled upon the technique in a book and also saw many artists create gorgeous things with it so I wanted to try it. :'D
Hope you have fun with this technique too hoho~~

Masking fluid FTW. I just learned how to use that stuff in an art class. Majorly fun, but the stuff smells worse than rotting fish.

LOLOLOL It really does. *A*
Though I've had mine for 6 years and I think the smell sorta died out a little. Still quite odorous.

Awesome
Just wondering, how thick do you have to apply the masking fluid? I've only used it once and have never been brave enough to do it again - I think I put the masking on too thick, cos it stuck and tore my paper when I tried to pull it off >_<
In my case, for tracing things onto watercolour paper, I use a huge cheat - my paper is A4 size, so I scan my drawing and print it straight onto the paper. I usually print it lightly in greyscale, so then I can trace directly over my sketch and the printed lines don't usually show too much on the final product; the printer ink usually doesn't run either, if the print is light. It saves a lot of time

Thanks!
I usually apply enough fluid so that it becomes opaque on the page before it dries. It depends on the paper your using too, I just put them on watercolour paper and they come off ok.
And hoho~~ thanks for the tip about printing it on. *A*
Another way to save time! 8D

Ah-huh, I might have to try it again sometime. Maybe it hadn't dried properly, or I was just too rough
No problem! Since I figured that out, it has saved me so much time! I'm doing a 12-page comic like that at the moment, working straight on a print-out without bothering to redraw the lines. No more hours spent hunched over the light table, wailing 'but it's just not the same as the original!' Yay for techno cheats
