Those shoulders... It's a nitpick on a technically well done piece but my eyes keep being brought to Cheerilee's shoulders and collarbone. I can understand why you did it this way though, conveying a dominate position is easier to do using a more humanoid body type, at least in some features is easier to do because of what we recognize.

I checked out some references and you have the ear positions right but Cheerilee should be on all fours with head and neck either up to make herself look taller with nose pointing down or with neck straight forward like she is going to charge and headbut him? It's tough because horses are not predators so they don't quite have the same body language. The rope you can have hanging out her mouth like Apple Jack does or maybe hanging from something on her side.

The body and body language is way better on mac. The neck arches back and tend to move their faces away when scared so that is good. They also tend to rear, but that would make mac look bigger and being Cheerilee is the aggressor in this pic, that would be appropriate. The other one is they scrunch up from the references I looked at which has the rear end lowering way down, feet flat on the ground, and knees almost to the side. As if they are about ready to spring and run for it with all that scrunch upness. Which would probably be more like what Mac is ready to do. You did a great job on him so I am just looking for stuff to Critique.

Those shoulders on Cheerilee though. It's mostly just me OCDing over things but my eyes keep getting drawn to them.

Hope this is helpful for future stuff!

While I've enjoyed your previous works, such as the beach pictures and the 3D models of the ponies, I can't say I'm a big fan of this style too much. I've never been a fan of black outlines in a cartoon like MLP FiM.

It also seems ill-timed seeing as it's nowhere near Valentine's Day, so the impact probably isn't as strong as it would have been had it been closer. Cheerilee's posture and facial expression do not match her personality at all. Mac's does since he's been known to be the quiet type. She would probably wear the pants in the relationship, so I guess it kinda' makes sense, but I don't see her as a dominating type.

As for originality, I'm sure something like this has been done before. (In stronger sexual tones I'm sure so I won't go looking). Maybe not with these two, but it's been done many times with other canon characters.

Though I'm not a fan of the style, the coloring is still pretty smooth and the background looks somewhat cartoony. Though it's a little too messy for my tastes. The characters' coloring is spot on, but I can't say I like the background. It just looks like it was rushed to me.

Also, I don't like Cheerilee's anatomy. She seems almost anthro. I personally don't like anthro

Oh wow. I'm a fan of cheermac ship so you already got that going for you. I like it when an artist put a mature joke hidden in their drawings, but I've never seen it done like this. The expression on the characters face speaks and their body language is fluent. Cheerilee's body is gruffed with a "I ain't playin'" position. You can see the sturdiness in her body, knowing nothing is going to stop her. Big Mac fells a bit more loose and shaken scared. Mac's shyness comes out here; his nervousness clear. Even the subtle details, like the rope in Cheerilee's hoof and the blush on Mac's cheeks stirs up scenarios in my head. The radiance of the color is astonishing - vibrant and high-lighted ,the style give this piece texture. The outlines are smooth and just plain pretty. Even the background ,with less detail, give the scenery atmosphere. The shading, coloration, and lighting is perfect; just another example of art work than make other artists feel like crap, but in the same time, get inspired by how simple it looks and try to be just as good. (But there is one factor that could qualify as an error: a bit of the ground near Mac's left hind-hoof is discolored)

You know that I love your work, so I can't really say some bad things about this artwork, but I usually write no critique, and now I do because there are some things to say about this picture.
First at all, the background, the shading and how the characters are standing there are amazing. But I saw that you changed your art style a bit, look at the drawing from, well, everypony at the beach for example. Then it is much 'softer', also because there's no black line around it. It's no problem, but I like your drawings without the black lines more.
I also don't really understand why Cheerilee is standing on her back legs, and why she got a rope. But I love the expressions on their faces.
I also love the episode with them together.
Anyway, I just can't say bad things about the picture because it is just amazing, like all your work. Only the story behind the picture and the black lines were my points.
Very good job <333

Thank you for your critique

I like to have fun with different styles, and sure will make more pictured with the more loose, painterly one in the future. As for this scene, yes, it's pretty random and may seem obscure, but it seemed like it would make a funny situation to put those two together like this

Yes, that's nice, I like that too, but it's just that I like the painterly one the most <3

I really love the drawing and situation XD it's also very funny, that face from Big Mac is just too awesome

I always love your work just remember that, but this one fails for me and I think it's just because there's no context or that my eye is being drawn to anything.
We got Cheerilee and Big Mac. She's obviously disappointed in Mac and she has a rope... which is just as mysterious as to why she's standing like that.
If Big Mac is going to make a run for it, his eyes should be looking away. If he is going to be looking to the left (Like he is now) he should be looking at that rope.
Other than posing and context I can't really say anything bad about this picture. The background is beautiful the characters are well done (even if Big Mac looks a little too groomed). This is a solid piece of artwork.

Let me just say beforehand that I may be just a tiny bit biased because I REALLY love this pairing e.deviantart.net/emoticons/b/b… " width="15" height="15" alt="" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="366" title=" (Big Grin)"/>
I love the shading and blending of colors. both on the ponies and in the background. The detail is quite good, especially on the rope, the tree, their expressions and manes. I think Big Mac looks better than Cherriliee in this picture (maybe because Cherry is standing on her back legs?) While the technique of this picture is outstanding, I kinda wish we knew more ot the story. Just what exactly is going on here?
Anyway, I really like this picture, and I was really happy you did it because I know you usually do solo portraits of the ponies.
Great job e.deviantart.net/emoticons/b/b… " width="15" height="15" alt="" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="366" title=" (Big Grin)"/>
