It looks to me that the two of them are venting their anger and hatred for one another in this match. While Diamond Tiara before her reform was obviously petty enough to hate Apple Bloom, I imagine that Apple Bloom's had more then enough of Diamond's crap and wants to give her a major beatdown.

Because Apple Bloom is quite savage when it come to mud wrestling as she's an Earth Pony from the Apple family who're tough as nails and super strong and athletic. Also, she'll be trying to intimidate Diamond Tiara who she's likely wanted to beat down in a mud wrestling contest since the day they met.

In the CMC/Sugar Lump Brats dynamic, I kind of like to imagine the rest of the kids of their school don't like either side.

Yeah, Silver Spoon is kicking some serious butt here! She seems to be fighting intelligently and using her environment to get an edge over Scootaloo whose the most aggressive of the CMC.
As for the feud between these two groups, if I were a kid at their school, I'd be on the side of the CMC any day as they're nice to others unlike the Sugar Lump duo.

Maybe at first, but early season CMCs were pretty impulsive, so I imagine they would be kept at arm's length. Good for short bursts, but the longer you hung around them, the longer the risk they do something stupid and destructive.

I can see that happening to be honest. Other kids would get displeased at the impulsiveness of the CMC but it seems to me that it was brought about by their obsession with getting Cutie Marks which in turn was brought about by the taunting of Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon as the CMC felt that by getting Cutie marks, they wouldn't be bullied anymore.

How much I would like to see that, Applebloom, Scootaloo and Sweetie Belle getting in a fight with DT and SS like this and messing them up completely, so that those two bitches limp home with bruises and black eyes.
I know, this is never going to happen, because Applebloom, Scootaloo and Sweetie Belle are too nice for doing this and it is under their niveau to go that route to teach them a lesson for bullying them, but it would be satisfying to see. So satisfying.
