"April O'Neil"
(Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles)
Investigating a little too closely into dangerous gangs and ninja clans, Channel Six ace reporter April O'Neil was saved by the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and became one of their closest friends, and is with them for nearly all of their adventures, while still trying to get "the big scoop" to take back to her disgustingly lecherous boss, Burne Thompson.
This is April O'Neil, based on her original and iconic yellow jumpsuited appearance we all remember from watching the original cartoon.
Apparently near the end of the original cartoon they changed her clothes and gave her regular street clothes and a jacket instead of living 24-7 in that weird yellow jumpsuit no one could ever figure out why she, or any reporter for that matter, would caught dead wearing.
(NOTE: this is a work of fiction, this is not for a REAL animated series! I don't work in the animation industry in any way.)

I believe the jumpsuit was just because the series was an advertisement for the toys so she had to look like a toy 24/7. Me, I don't care if she's wearing anything else. Why should a regular old person make a habit of wearing the same thing every time?

I actually noticed recently that what she's wearing is identical (but grey/blue in colour) to what she was wearing in her first appearance in the original comics when working for Stockman. Never noticed before, lol.

You know the way you draw her actually makes the jumpsuit look good. I always feel like the jumpsuit April O'neil had didn't look like it fit her.

Sad, because this looks WAY better than the crap they put out the second time. Bring back the originals! Great work.

now that i think of it, i don't think i've seen anyone in a yellow jumpsuit, ever. i saw an old guy in a pastel blue jumpsuit, but no yellow ones.

I think April is just a reeeeeally weird chick. She hangs out in stinky sewers with creepy mutant turtles...

yeah you know what.... that is pretty weird. girl needs therapy or something.
or maybe she's just a crazy chick that hangs out in the sewer imagining that shes talking with mutant ninja turtles, haha

does she work at a carwash?
after a few seasons, i had stopped watching the cartoon. not sure why. all i know is that i caught an episode and was surprised to see that mikey was just using a grappling hook instead of his nunchucks. never saw april wearing anything other than the classic jumpsuit, unless it was a special instance where she was in disguise.

Same here, I think I watched it religiously for like the first few seasons and then it became sporadic and then I was surprised it was still on until 1996 and had 10 seasons. I think I the last new episode I ever saw was in season 5

channandeller [2010-05-04 09:16:00 +0000 UTC]
love it. I always assumed the jumpsuit was left over from the original comics when she was Baxter's assistant... cos she wore a similar one then... guess they thought no one would question it.

KrisSmithDW In reply to channandeller [2010-05-05 11:21:28 +0000 UTC]
thats what I was thinking. it was like they only used her first appearance in the comics as reference and figured that was her standard look, but they made it yellow instead of drab blue/gray so that it would be more memorable or stand out better or something or other.

I always prefer her in the jumpsuit. I mean she hangs around giant talking turtles XD Awesome work here dude

Thanks dude!
Yeah, when I think April O'Neil, I think "yellow jumpsuit". And if I was creating a "from scratch" reimagining/reboot of the series, I'd try and find a reason to make her have to wear one, even if she has normal street clothes as well

RedWingsDragon In reply to KrisSmithDW [2010-05-05 15:30:35 +0000 UTC]
That was my one problem with the 03 series(aside from some of the voice actors and the music) is how they kept knocking the jumpsuit. YOU DON'T DISRESPECT THE JUMPSUIT!

I do wonder about that yellow jumpsuit...... I wonder why they decided to have her wear that........

KrisSmithDW In reply to srg1 [2010-05-05 11:19:15 +0000 UTC]
The only thing I can think of is that they used her first appearance in the comic book as reference, where she WAS wearing a jumpsuit (although it was like gray/blue) but that was because she was working in a factory. I think they just figured that was her standard look, went with it, but made her yellow so it would stand out more and be more memorable.
