Description

Okay, folks. It took me forever to make this thing, but I did it. As suggested by , I have created a tutorial on how to make movie pictures of your own stitchpunk OC's.

I use Adobe Photoshop CS3, but I'm sure that any version of Photoshop or Photoshop Elements would work. The only difference would probably be the setup of the tools.

So read the instructions and give it a try! I need a break from doing these pictures!

If I was to use a screenshot where 7 IS wearing her helmet and I wanted to change it to fit my OC, would I have to do the same thing?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

KRRouse In reply to Maerd7733SCAIP [2011-10-20 00:56:51 +0000 UTC]

You would have to paint over the helmet with your clone stamp tool if you wanted to get rid of it. It can be difficult to blend in the clone stamped section with the rest of the picture, especially if there's a shadow anywhere on the head, but it's not impossible. I've painted out the helmet once and decided it was too much work. [link]

Once the helmet's gone, you can follow the same tutorial.

Im not sure if that comment went through:

Just asking:

1. Were co you get your screenshots from buddy?
2. Also what is the font to 9 called?

KRRouse In reply to SnivyPokemon [2011-05-06 00:09:07 +0000 UTC]

Sorry I haven't been getting back to you quickly. I've been packing all week to move off campus and I haven't been checking my deviantart messages very frequently.

There are two ways that I get screenshots. The first way is to look through the 9 Forum's screenshot caption thread [link] and hopefully stumble across what you want. It might take a while, but there's a lot of funny captions along the way.

Another method is to download the program Handbrake [link] which allows you to copy or "Rip" movie files off of DVD's and onto your computer. Once you copy a movie file, all you have to do is open it in Quicktime (or whatever your computer uses), right click on the exact frame that you want, and save it as a picture.

The 9 font is called "Demon" or "Demon Night." I was able to download it from a site that another DA artist linked me to, but that site doesn't seem to be online anymore. You might be able to find it if you do a Yahoo or Google search.

I hope this all helped!

Thanks that helped alot. One more thing, which site did you get that 9 and 7 holding hands picture from?

KRRouse In reply to SnivyPokemon [2011-05-09 04:55:55 +0000 UTC]

I took that screencap myself. If you want it, you could probably save the tutorial to your pictures folder and then cut out the area with that image.

whoaaaaaaaaa... o___o I remember looking through this when you first submitted this but this is just. WOW. Now that I've taken the time to read everything and not skim through it, it makes a lot of sense. I'm usually one that has a hard time learning without whole screencaps to tutorials here on DA but the way you've explained it made a lot of sense and I didn't feel lost at all. It's awesome! It seems pretty easy and now I wish I had Photoshop again to give this a try with 28 or 14. Thanks sooooo much Katelyn for putting allll that time and effort into making this for us. It's amazinggg.

KRRouse In reply to lonesome-wolf-child [2011-03-15 07:14:34 +0000 UTC]

Thank you very much Emmi! The challenging thing about making this tutorial was that I've gotten so used to working with Photoshop and I had to keep reminding myself to explain every single step of the process. Constantly stopping yourself to go back and point out all the little things is kind of like falling on your face while trying to walk in baby steps.

I'll probably try making real pictures of the missing links one of these days. I haven't had much time for fanart lately (which is why I wanted to show people how to make these pictures themselves ), but things might be getting slightly more manageable soon. I'm just pages away from finishing the "Genesis" book!

Thanks again!

You're very welcome Katelynnn. Haha Right right. XD It makes sense though. I feel the same way when teaching violin. Gotta remember that I'm dealing with someone who's on their first year as I'm going my 11th. XDDD Hahaha Have to refresh ze brainnn to make sure what things you explained that need to be explained and what have you.

Do it when you have time to do so. Dun rush it. I saw you finished Genesis' book. I'm soooooooooo proud of you and amazed of how much time you spent and dedicated to it all the way you did. I'll save more of how I feel on the last page one of these days. XB Haha

You're welcome once more!

would you think this tutorial would work with paintshop pro or Sai?

KRRouse In reply to OfTheMoon [2011-01-08 05:14:00 +0000 UTC]

I've never used either of those programs, but if they can perform a lot of the same functions as Photoshop, they'll probably work for this. You'll just have to figure out for yourself where all the tools and effects are in those programs.

You could try it. I don't know if you can copy and paste multiple layers in that program though.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

KRRouse In reply to 9freak97 [2011-01-05 22:37:36 +0000 UTC]

You can find some on google. I used to get them by paging through the caption message boards on the 9 Forum: [link] , but someone told me about a program called Handbrake that you can download here: [link] .

Handbrake lets you download or "rip" the movie from the DVD and save it as an mp4 file. Then you can open the file in Quicktime (or whatever movie-playing program you have), pause it at the image you want, and right-click the screen to save that screencap.
