Hi! This is actually reporting for today's Owltober!Meet the Great Horned Owl!
A month or so ago, we went to a street festival and there was a demonstration with a few birds and =kthxplz quickly snapped up several photos of this photogenic fellow (or lady-fellow).
Although it's technically cheating because he didn't draw it, =kthxplz ended up hospitalized today and though he has an owl sketched he's just too weak~. Send in some love for this handsome critter meanwhile?

one of these handsome critters lives around my place. just the other night, i was hooting back and forth with it. :'D of course, i'll have to be careful once we have kitties, not to let them outside at night!

I wish we lived somewhere woodsy enough for any kind of wildlife beyond urban skunks and raccoons eatin' outta the trash. You should snap a photo of him if you get the chance!
We're gettin' by okay now, thanks. x] ♥ Crys's sister has been sick and hacking up a lung for the past week, but I've stayed almost exclusively in our bedroom just to stay away from her since she has no concept of covering her mouth and I can't afford to get sick again. xD; And I managed to pull in enough little animation contracts to keep our rent sustained for a few more months, so we'll get through one way or another.

no woods here, either... just a few trees here and there. my family moved back to the Nevadan desert. :'D now all we have are tumbleweeds. but i'm a desert girl to begin with, so it's home to me <3 i'm enjoying seeing real mountains again. :'D
oh dear, well it's good that you're avoiding the sickie. everyone at my place has been a bit sick, too. i'm glad you're doing better.
i haven't even tried to enter the animation industry since i graduated... partially cause i don't think my demo reel is up to snuff yet, and partially cause i live in the middle of nowhere :'D seriously, this town is like a giant trailer park. we only have one tiny marketplace (ironically, called the village market :'D), and yet we have 2 casinos... :'D we live on a dirt road, too. lol. well but it's the first place my family has actually owned, which is nice, not to mention that it's twice the size of the place we had in Tennessee, and sitting on 8.7 acres. we're only living here until our 80 acres of unimproved land sells... we've been trying to sell it for as long as i can remember, but my dad is somehow confident that it'll be sold within the next 2 years.... at which point, my parents are buying a place somewhere else, i'm moving somewhere where i can actually get a job in my field, and my aunt and uncle are moving into this place. until then, i gotta get some other kind of job... which i have noooo idea what to apply for, since my only experience is in dog-sitting and care-giving. :'D well, and then there's this seed collecting thing my dad wants us to do, but that won't be available until spring.... right now, i'm just being a lazy bum :'D well, but we just now got internet again, so i have a bunch to catch up on, still. but we can't get any pets until i get a job, so i have plenty of incentive! i want a puppy!! my biggest hurdle, though, is the fact that i can never drive, due to epilepsy. i need to get on disability... oh, and i have to get on foodstamps in order to defer my student loans, which i have no way of paying right now :'D life's a bitch, but i guess i'm doing okay~ =w=

Ooh, that owl is really something! Love the white markings, the ear tufts, those talons and the eyes!

and hooray for more owls! i love this guy (or gal)'s ornery expression and his 'horns'. i have yet to actually meet an owl, but i look forward to the day i do!
