Question: After that how do you remove the "skin colour" that over- laps the other lines so it just stays only on the skin?

If you still need, on some programs like this it includes a tool called 'Magic Wand'Β and you can select the skin with this.

Uumm.... okay...
What tool am I using to shade?
How do I do the shading? As in, How Do I know WHERE to place them?
How can do the shades so round if I'm using a mouse?
Where's the oil water tool?
"pick out the 2nd skin color, go to third layer and do the same"...what did I exactly do? I just shade the already shaded parts again?
Where do I know to place the Highlights?
Where's the water color tool?
Filter>Brightness/Contrast? And that is....where?
...Photoshop? HOW do I use THAT!?
This wasn't all that useful...
...Ugh. Sorry for my rant, I'm just stressed out that I can't do shit!

Actually. I still haven't learned to do this properly.
But all this tutorial is still confusing to me. So I now just use either airbrush or a transparent lineart layer for cell-shading.
Well, that was my main problem. I don't know how to place shades.
I'm sadly a person who can't teach themselves how to do something like this.
I've looked stuff up but it still doesn't help me nor explains what I need.
So I just add shadows randomly whenever I do a drawing.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=uZDY2Pβ¦ - this explains it very well and if it doesnt work for you and you still want to continue drawing you should take art classes cuz its really hard to get better without knowing the basicsΒ
hope i helped i lil bitΒ Β

1. up to ur preferrence but i think she used Β a pen tool or watercolor
2. put shading where there is like hair going over skin so it makes a shadow just like in real lifeΒ
3. you can use lineart layer. hold ctrl and you can make lines do whatever you want, then just fill them in with bucket tool and ur set *also you can set ur stabilizer to s-7 so smith- it is in the top right corner*
4. its right next to water 10 tool and its named a lil differently- ol water tool
5. it made a deeper shadow.shadows are darker near the object and fade as they are further behind it its like an airbrush does but she doeas it in anime styles where is rarely used airbrush tool
6.where the light hits. aka the object which is the closest to the light will be brighter than the one behind. in other words put highlights on the nose cheeks and things that are sticking out.
7. its the 4th tool in paint tool sai and its named- water
8.well the easiest way to do what she did is to go to to mode on the top right and put the layer on luminosity.
9. you dont have to use photoshop its more for rendering not for drawing, paint tool sai is easier to understand and use
lol here
ps: you cant just learn to draw shadows by drawing more, you have to study it by looking at how shadows fall on people around you or go on youtube and search a video on it

The highlights and the shades you have to learn where to place them
every tool like brushes an ol water are placed where the pencil, brush, eraser, etc are
Filter>Brightness/Contrast is up on your windowΒ

How and where do I learn that!?
If the tools were there, I wouldn't be asking... The water and oil tool are missing.

Practice with your drawings, by yourself try to put them
I learned drawing a little sun on the corner, the side that is in the same of the sun thehighlights and in the other side the shades
I don't know how to show you :/Β

Do you use paint on anything? ;-; I don't hav paint tool sai. It's so complicated...

yuukipink In reply to Kittyfriend12345 [2015-01-05 01:43:49 +0000 UTC]
Sai is very easy once you understand all the brush settings. The only way to do that is to start drawing in the program. Eventually, you will see what each setting does. Paint is okay for pixels but if you want to draw like this, Sai has blending tools paint does not have.Β

And so how do you get the skin coloring off the undesired parts once finished?
π: 0 β©: 1
yuukipink In reply to Zenon107 [2015-01-05 01:49:25 +0000 UTC]
I didn't make this tutorial but I think I can answer this. You may not have to erase the skin coloring. Color the clothing on a new layer on top of the skin and no one will see the messy skin edge.

When I used the Oil Watercolor tool it blended the skin layer a little too well, nothing like how you have it where the tones lighten up a bit. Have any suggestions?

Maybe try lowering the density?
Also play around with the section where it says blending/dilution
