Vindicus: "To rule the skies, to feel the energy coursing through our broad wings, that is the power of a wind dragon"

Its Vindicus! (Win-dee-cus) Father of Cynder, Mate to Brella, Master of the Wind Element. He takes after Ignitus, always enjoyed the wisdom of the Fire guardian, that is why he was best friends with him.
His job when the time comes is to teach the wind dragons (and Spyro) how to use the power of wind. Also when they came of age, teach the young dragons how to fly.

The wind guardian loves his position at the temple, a dream come true to be titled head guardian after Ignitus disappeared. however he loves his family just as much. The laws at the temple prevent him from raising his daughter, Cynder there with the others. Vindicus is really bad when it comes to keeping his family a secret, but thankfully has Frostine to help him keep it. Using the ploy to study this so called 'strange dragoness' He sneaks away from the temple to fly a great distance (which is nothing to a master of wind) to spend time with Brella and Cynder.

Why wasn't he in the original story?

During the night of that horrible raid, the Wind Guardian fought off hordes of apes. he couldn't stop them from smashing all the eggs. He felt absolutely distressed with so much bloodshed around him. When ignitus returned from getting the purple egg to saftey, one of the half dead apes started laughing and talking about how one other egg was not destroyed. After interogating the ape in its' dying breath. Vindicus learned that the apes had plans to use the black dragon egg and it's captured mother to do the Dark Master's bidding. Vindicus lost all sense after that, we wanted to protect and save his family. Ignitus ordered him not to leave, that his pressance was needed at the temple for more enemies were coming. Thats when Vindicus spilled his secret about his mate and child to be to the fire dragon. Ignitus tried to stop the wind dragon again but was unable to. Vindicus set out on a foolhardy rescue attempt for his family.

Using his power to commune with the wind, it told the grey guardian the exact direction of his unhatched child. he flew as fast as he could. however he ignored the other parts of the wind that told him danger was following. an ape archer mounting a dreadwing creature managed to line up his sights on the unaware dragon, his bolt pierced through the base of his wing. with only one good wing and at the speed he was going. the doomed dragon couldn't maintain his flight as he spiraled toward the ground. The natural forces of gravity are never kind to those who cannot fly. Vindicus perished after a heavy impact with the ground.

Ignitus hated the Wind Dragon after that night, breaking his loyalty to his best friend, and heavy laws of the guardians. The fire dragon was filled with disgust, so much that he went and removed all the banners with the symbol of Wind from the temple before the apes managed to drive him out.

But thankfully Vindicus was given a second chance, for life and by Ignitus, now the Chronicler. Ignitus looked past his friend's dishonest nature to see how much he cared about his duties, and the wind dragon was very good at them too. So who better to be titled Head Guardian than Vindicus?

Whew... So much wall of text, but so worth it
This was indeed the hardest of my characters to envision and have created. His design is based around the character Aeros by DragonCid. I wanted him to look like a guardian dragon, and her artwork of the guardians was just too awesome to resist. Thank you for bringing such inspiration to us Cid

after a long painstaking session of skyping and refixing. The artist was going to throw this one out and try again. But i liked it too much and wanted to get Vindicus out so I decided to fix it and clean it up myself, I was just really in a photoshopping mood so yeah.

Resemblence to Cynder; emerald green eyes and wings. but the rest of her looks comes from her mother, Brella
