Operation Perimeter

New battles...old wars.

This scene depicts the USS Hornet during the battle of Midway, as Japanese A6M Zero's strafe the deck of the aircraft carrier, with the players scrambling into positions on deck to defend the ship . The USS Hornet went on to have a legendary career with the Doolittle Raid, the Battle of Midway, the Solomon Campaign, and later revived and participated in the space race. Also featured, on deck are F4F Wildcats, F6F Hellcats, a SB2C Helldiver (taking off), and a Fletcher Class Destroyer flanking the Hornet.

This image is a interpretation of my imagination and is comprised of probably 30-40+ different and separate photographs, mixed with created elements, blended and contorted together in an attempt to create an image that tells a story and inspires interest. I have to admit, this was an ambitious project for myself since I knew it would be complex to piece together and would require myself to grow my abilities to reach my goal with the image. My hopes are that it leaves a sense of aww and creates some heightened buzz.
