Description
I was driving around Sunday evening and came across another Box Turtle crossing the road. This one is a little different than the first one I found([link] & [link] )...this one has red eyes and red on its scales, where the other one had yellow eyes and yellow on its scales. I had to be really patient with this series of pictures since I had to stop frequently to get out of the road for passing traffic. I'm sure I got many odd looks since I was laying on my stomach on the road! Here's a link to another variation, without a fill flash and different white balance: [link]
Hope you enjoy!

TURTLE!
This is eccentrically cool. Did you find him or set him up?

Both. I found him on a country back road. So I loaded him up in search of a road that had more interest, in particular one with the painted lines. Unfortunately, the road was a little busier and I got a lot of funny looks from people driving by. After I was finished, I returned him to a safe place away from any roads.

Aww I'm now having weird thoughts about this turtle hanging out on some back country roads who's famous on the internet and has no idea

... and by that inane question, I mean did you have to nudge him onto his mark, or did you just let him turtle around for a bit?

What a beautiful capture this is. It was well worth the effort.

This one is a beautiful male ornate box turtle. the other one was probably a girl. Boys have red/brown/orange eyes and leg spots.
great photo though, the colors are fantastic, the setting sun jus' sets the mood.

Awesome! That would explain it! Thanks!
I know the asphalt and concrete soak up a lot of heat, but wow was I surprised how much while I laying on the road! I felt like I had run a mile when I got up!
