Description
8/16/2010 -Western OklahomaA common Great Plains icon braces for another battle with the weather. This thunderstorm pushes east, creating heavy rains and a gust front, which is approximately just behind the advancing shelf cloud. I did not stay too long, since the the storm was moving closer and closer around 30 mph. There were a few micro bursts ahead of the shelf cloud, but the real fury lay just behind. By the time I got of the dirt roads and back on the highway to head back home, I was heading directly into the heart. I was just a few miles outside of town when I was hit head-on with the gust front that had my truck briefly slowed down and rocked by the winds. And then the rain hit...It amazes me sometimes by how much water can be carried in the air and in these thunderstorms!

This is what 100 plus years of Oklahoma weather does to you if you are a well built structure
I joke with people the storms down here in Texas are a religious faith changing experience I bet you wished you AND your truck were in a concrete steel enforced building.
