So many words I'd love to add to this...

Freedom is not cheap. Freedom is constantly being taken from the hands of people whether many realize it or not. Sometimes it is blatantly apparent. Other times it is more secretive and undermining...all in the name of a "noble causes", expedience, and misdiagnosis of crisis among others. Whether you realize it or not, by forfeiting your simple decisions in life is in effect you laying down your freedom of choice not only for yourself, but for all those that come after you. Freedom truly is a delicate luxury that so many need to evaluate the effects that their actions and the actions of others have on their liberty and the liberty of others. Educate yourself. Use common sense. Be responsible. Be self-reliant. Work hard at all costs to preserve the things which you so wholeheartedly cherish in life. Stand for something. Thank those who have and those who daily put themselves on the line to protect you and your pursuit.

I have to add that I wanted this picture to be like a modern take on a scene that could have taken place early in our nation's history...A soldier showing patriotic emotion towards a battered and worn flag that he is sacrificing so much for in a time of conflict preserving independence. Hence, the title being derived from the Star-Spangled Banner.
