"That is not going to look good at journey's end, even if you don't have to suffer inconveniences such as dying. Even if we both enjoy these meetings, you would do well to avoid forcing me to arrange them." The blue-furred wolf lounged on the floor, taking his time, looking at the helpless female sharing his lodge. The pair of crow tengu that had captured her might not have known she had a backup plan of sorts, but the fact that they had given her a hood, harness, cuffs, and an uncomfortable-looking spreader bar was fortuitous. "Yes ... do not force me to arrange them, even if you can afford to ..."

Naturally, Amaterasu didn't say anything, and her restraints meant that a casual onlooker would have a difficult time reading her posture. Whether Oki was welcome or not for his opportune rescue was something only the male could tell, and it didn't really matter in the long run. The warrior needed some level of compensation, and he wasn't interested in yen or demon parts. Relaxing among the pillows and his attempts at brightening the lodge—he'd been unable to get songbirds in golden cages or tinkling fountains—Oki was in no hurry to get on with things. Maybe it didn't matter to a goddess, but what he was about to do for the fifth time certainly had to be better than falling in battle.
