Description I made this tree for a friend and former co-worker of mine, Laura. She'll be having her first baby soon (a boy) and decided that instead of a really baby-ish theme for his nursery, she wanted something he could enjoy as he gets older, too... trees!

Laura wanted to incorporate green, blue, and yellow beads, so that's what I did. There's somewhere around a dozen different colors in this beautiful blend. I wanted the tree to look grown-up, but have fun touches as well, so I put a little owl in one of the branches and two little turtle beads by the roots. This is also the first time I've had more than one color of wire. I used "brown" and "gun metal."

I would love to hear any comments and feedback you have for me!

Very nice form and the two colors I do that a lot, you should not hold back in color mixing some times you will be surprised at the results it could make the whole piece come alive OR look bad BUT you'll never know till you try most of the greatest things are found by accident have fun. Stephen.B

Thanks so much! When my friend asked for the leaves to be blue, green, and yellow, I wasn't sure how I would pull that off and keep it looking natural, but I like how it turned out!

This is so beautiful. I adore wire crafts, and this one is just stunning. It was a great idea to incorporate different colors the way you did; as a result, the piece is more pleasing to the eye and more interesting to look at.

Plus, the turtles were a great touch.

The beads I use in my jewelry are even smaller, if you can believe it.

I use E-6000. For my purposes, it's the perfect glue.

I've been planning on mixing wire on a tree soon, but hadn't gotten round to it. I was delaying because my brain kept asking if it'd look like a candy cane. It's nice to see it turns out so lovely. Next paycheck I'm going to buy some supplies to make a photo area, so I can get better pictures of my trees, partly so I can show them off, and partly so I can start selling them more regularly.

Good photos make such a big difference. I'm still improving mine!

I think the key to mixing wire is making sure that the colors aren't too far apart.

Thanks for the tip. The great thing about wire trees is there are some many things to try!

I know, right? I found them at my local bead shop. Be prepared to see little creatures like this from time to time. They have little cats that I want to use for something...

I only just recently thought of mixing wire colors. This tree has a little too much contrast in wire color, but it's still a nice effect. I hope Laura likes it as much as you do!
