Description
"And if you make it down there with your limbs still attached to you, if the beasts and ancient beings that lurk in the dark have not finished you off, then aim your torch at the mural behind the altar. And then, and only then, will you understand something of the power behind the cycle of light and dark."

An ancient mural, found deep in the forgotten cities and temples that lay buried in sand, walls that lurk behind vines and roots in long abandoned jungles. Shattered stone tablets upon the floors of burnt down ruins, and perhaps in the vaults of those who know more about the dark deity pictured in these murals: Taegan. And of the ancient history described in them. Perhaps even more than what they should, for while it once might have been a more common of a practice, times change constantly. For with each new cycle of light and darkness, comes a new way of worship. Ways that may just lead a practitioner of the forgotten ways down a road of quick but painful death.
So yes, the tradition of birthday art continues. Once more drawn by the fantastic for my 25th birthday. Thank you again. Absolutely love it. I have a thing for murals, bas-reliefs and the likes. Another fine example can be seen here, featuring the dark deity Taegan once again, with the style being more of a storybook imagery or more modern (as modern as things can get in a fantasy setting) kind of wall painting: www.deviantart.com/lamaohi/art…
The quickly written flavourtext snippet might get replaced by more well planned out text if this mural is featured in the future (or already) in the writings of my dear friend . With her permission, of course.

Aah I still love this one
I like your snippet, but of course I'd give you permission I'll see if I can come across ancient examples of Taegan worship. Maesmaer has the Night's black blur, courtesy of Vergal's visit, and ancient Ruboria might also have something akin to this... Hmm I think I'll have something for you in the deep someday. The sun might even make sense there. It's usually ascribed to another deity, but Taegan was in the process of usurping that one to the ancient Ruborians, so...
And the humans' outfits also fit that realm.

Huzzah! And ooh that sounds great. Ah yes, Vergal's little tropical getaway and accidentally causing folklore to pop up, whoops.
I mean we have the underground city where he was worshipped in Ruboria. Or was it one of his early overlords or an avatar of himself that resided there. Note to self, reread everything from Estell's story and dive deep into your writings again as soon as possible.
A dark sun in the deep where light does not shine? Yes please.
Inb4 Taegan invented Ruborian fashion. Strutting his divine form all over the place while Mother Goddess was busy with elven fashion. Great cycle of light and dark fashion. Truly a period of prosperity for everyone involved.

And granting all of the Zola some dark magic! Better than infecting them with some disease they can't deal with. Come to think of it that way, it's lucky he survived in the Oververse, being from a different world and not immune to Oververse disease, and he didn't infect anyone with Geragha diseases
(vaccinate your transdimensional Overlords!)
Yep, Synn and Nephren instated Taegan worship in Kadath when it was on the surface of the sand and Ruboria's capital! Though not under his true name, that's a no no in my Oververse. It was more of a token appreciation and replacing of the sun god that didn't actually do anything for Taegan, but was essentially a nice gesture.
Whenever you have time!
Certainly! Or maybe a bit of blue light along the lines of the strange hieroglyphics down there, growing ever brighter as the Lord of Domination approaches, just like the orange light of the Netherworld came back when Jinx returned.
He very well might have. The cycle of light and dark is really a battle of couture.

I suppose Taegan gave him some immunities or made sure he survived any and all potential sicknesses he might have caught. But I can't imagine it was easy for him if he did indeed catch something that his immune system clearly was not familiar with. Who knows, perhaps Taegan even had to reorganize a bunch of his organs and cells and what not to make sure he lived!
Yeah I think only his cultists and those Overlords that he appears to are privy to his true name. And Gnarl as well. I also think that as long as the generic idea of him, in any shape or form, is worshipped, then that is enough to keep him in power and it also eventually allows for the cycle to spin from light to dark and dark to light. Just as the case most likely is with Mother Goddess. You see a statue of her that may not look anything like her actual elven avatar, but you recognize that the statue represents her. You are aware of the idea of her, and bam, belief and power gained in some form or another.
But yes, I am certain that Taegan appreciated it. Aten/Akhenaten -esque scenarios like that are always fun.
I shall make time!
Ooh yes I do like that idea.
But naturally as soon as it became fashion, he was already over it and doing something else. All great fashionistas do that.
