Description
I made this for sakuracon 2008, sorry for the delayI dont think anyone really realised the attention to detail that went into this, the jumpsuit is patterned exactly after the model from the game, all the seams, ageing, tears etc. are identical.
I also embroidered the apperture logos on the 2 shirts (worn by [link] and [link] )
photos by and (c) to eurobeat king
character (c) valve
For reference on how this costume was made check out:
full (albeit brief) costume tutorial: [link]
pattern for the jumpsuit: [link]
tutorial on installing piping:[link]

Where did you find the orange jumpsuit? I've been looking everywhere but I am unable to find a jumpsuit like the one chell is wearing.

I was hoping to cosplay Chell, but I don't have many friends around me to help me out, is there any tips you could give me on what you used for the cosplay? Any sort of ways I can get pieces like a t shirt, leggings and so on? I would also like a opinion, I feel like I have the hairlength and color for Chell, it's just my methods for pulling it off that is eluding me

I put together this tutorial on how I made the costume, [link] I tried to give plenty of detail, but if anything is unclear I would be happy to explain in more detail or talk about alternatives. I think you would make an awesome chell! this is the woman who they based her face off of: [link] you probably have a more similar face shape to her that I do. Good luck, and send pictures if you end up doing it, I'l love to see how it turns out.

I'm working on my chell halloween costume. There's no way I'll be able to pull of the detail you did here!
How did you do them leg springs thar?

Lambda2441 In reply to Kaerbu [2010-10-18 17:50:41 +0000 UTC]
they are the curved tips of old skis I found at a recycling center, I extended the tips a bit with craft foam and sheet metal for support. If you'd like more detail I made this tutorial about how I made all the parts of this costume: [link] and feel free to ask if there are any areas that are unclear or you'd like more detail good luck!

This is awesome. I know mine won't look as good as this, but it gives me some expectations on what it could look like. I do have a question, even though I'm pretty sure I already know the answer. Did you make the robotic leg things (I honestly don't know what to call them) and the gun yourself?

Yes, I made all of it. If you're interested in how, I made a bit of a tutorial as to how I did the different pieces. thank you very much!

There was actually someone dressed as GladOS at this convention, unfortunately we never crossed paths in costume, or I definitely would have had some pictures.

I did make a little tutorial about how I made each piece of the costume [link] which kind of goes over how I made the leg springs, if you have any other specific questions that don't get covered in this please PM me and ask, I would be happy to describe in more detail.

Lambda2441 In reply to LifeLostSoul [2010-07-17 05:32:12 +0000 UTC]
Well they're duct taped to my legs underneath the jumpsuit, so in addition to not being able to bend my legs at all and walking on tip toes the whole time, I also lost quite a bit of skin taking them off >_<. so VERY weird, and painful, but totally worth it ^_^
