A variant of the upgraded Centurion II "Thunderbolt" Main Battle Tank, the M27CS (Close Support) Dustbin Assault Tank/Engineering Vehicle is a multi-functional combat engineering vehicle. Equipped with a bulldozer scoop, a short barreled 240mm Hail Mary Mortar (which was modified to be able to fire AT rockets), the tank also had an additional crew member in the main turret to navigate the tank. Its main armament, the short 24cm Hail Mary Mortar is a smoothbore, low velocity mortar designed to destroy fortifications, pillboxes and other fortified defenses with low recoil.
The vehicle received a total of 32 rounds of ammunition for its main gun with either HE or HESH shot, each capable of delivering up to 25kg of explosive, it is also capable of firing a specialized APHE rocket, although these new rockets were only available in the aftermath of the 3rd Bugs War. The M27CS is one of the standardized models along the lines of the upgraded Centurion II that still in service with the mainstay Federation military and had been used in many interstellar conflicts involving the Federation in the recent years, from the Third Bug War at the Homefront Campaign as an engineering vehicle to its current iteration as the standard vehicle of choice for the majority of Quarian Engineering Brigades of the Foreign Legion units.
Note:The inscriptions on the sides of the turret is "Keelah se'lai", the Quarian's phrase ""By the homeworld I hope to see one day.". As this tank belongs to the Foreign Legion, it also had the Legion's badges on the sides of the turrets instead of regular Federation Eagle symbol. The number 442nd is a reference to the WW2 era US Army 442nd infantry regiment which is made up mostly of Japanese Americans.
