Description Here's the details from a piece from my BFA show. It's entitled "Exoskeletal Emergence" and is made of just glass and metal. The glass is removable and intrechangable with other colors/shapes.

This piece is about 7-8 feet tall with the glass in it. It took about 75 hours to complete.

I like the close ups... very detailed. And I like the grey glass you chose to go with this piece... haunting-

Thanks. I tried to go with subtlety on this one and not make the glass so vibrant and noticeable. To be quite honest, it turned out even more subtle than I had originally intended.

I think it worked. Feels like the glass has extended into the piece and that one could not survive without the other.

I thought the piece was really very nice before the glass.

With the glass, it is absolutely amazing.

God damn thats cool, its nice to see a close up of it. Only complaint is the bottom photograph seems alittle out of focus and even though the middle is very 'basic' it would be nice to see a close up of that too but very cool man, I love it.

Yeah, unfortunately, the digital images from my show didn't turn out that great. I took the slide images, and my friend took the digital ones. Also she was using an unfamiliar camera... Perhaps one of these days I'll be able to scan in the slides, as they turned out quite splendidly. But for the time being this gives you an idea of what it was.

are you going to go for your masters? Yes scan the slides we spent an entire photography quarter looking at slides and seeing what works and what doesnt be it for a gallery portfolio or for your masters portfolio.

Yeah. Eventually I'll be goign for my master's, but I'd like to get a few years experience under my belt before I start applying.

That's the plan anyhow.

ah and a good plan it is I think......what exactly does one do with a masters of art though? I have been thinking about that all an art degree does is allow you to be a teacher doesnt it? (which wouldnt be a bad thing at all)

Well that's certainly one of the main points of it. That's one of the main reasons I want one. but also those two years are a really good way to refine your artistic voice so to speak. A lot of people do a lot of growing up during those two years. So it'll be a time to create new work as well. That's the plan anyhow.

growing up you say....I should probably stay far far away from the masters program then because growing up isnt in the master plan for me

Well, by growing up, I suppose I meant more of their work growing up. It's just a time to focus on your work... I certainly don't plan on REALLY "Growing up" any time soon. That is not a worry at all!

ah well great! As someone once told me..growing up is a soul killing experiance....and I think they are right but I think I understand what you are talking about the masters program gives you time to mature and develop as an artist like growing up...huh...yeah?? I know you will do great things because frankly you already have done great things...I absolutely love your sculptures I hope some day I can afford to buy one from you too....Im gonna buy one before you get famous though because then they wont cost me 100 million dollars

And when I do sell my work for 100 million dollars, you can rest assured that absolutely none of it will be going to help the less fortunate

I kid I kid...

I just help in other ways. Like teaching. I think that makes more of a difference. Give someone the knowledge to do something. Instead of just the temporary solution of money.

I think teaching is a great way to help people and educating people can change the world. Money is a temporary solution but its necessary to everything. I dont have a problem with artists selling their art for millions of dollars I really dont, its straight foreward its I made this if you want it its worth this much to me. It doesnt make me hate the artist it makes me mad at the people buying it....its like you spent 100 million dollars on a painting but you voted no on a 1% tax increase to spend more money on education (during the last election we voted to raise the sales tax 1% to go towards public education, it was a landslide NO...needless to say I think I was the only one who voted yes....even my "liberal" friends who bitch about Bush so much and how is horrible voted no on it, excuse "Im not in school anymore it doesnt affect me") Thats what upsets me, hell if I could sell a painting or anything else for 100 million dollars I would but its sick that people can afford that......people live in 20 million dollar houses then go on TV and ask for my voice to help extreme poverty....it just gives me guilt like no ones business.....not sure if that made sense and maybe Im partially insane but its just how I am I guess....

I love it, it's beautifuly creepy... I could just imagine what it would look like if the glass was lightly lit, so that it gave off an eerie glow, that would look awesome i think. Shame you're in the US, I would love to see your work up close...
Beautiful..

Thanks. Yeah, pictures don't always do them justice... I guess I get spoiled a lot since I get to see them all very closely... But a lot of people who came to my show, said that. They said that they knew a lot of what they were going to see, but when they actually saw it and experienced it in person, it was nothing that could be experienced through images...
