Yay! Thanks you
Btw, is it ok for the pen when it goes over pencil lines? Cos of the lead and stuff.
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
lazydragon In reply to Bacafreak [2007-06-11 15:32:58 +0000 UTC]
It's ok. Just make sure that your pencil lead is not the too smeared up type and your pen is, erm, pigment ink, i think. O_O and the non-water-absorbent type. and the ink is not the smeary type too.
basically, it's ok la too run the pencil lines with pen. ^^

hey ur inking style is exactly the same with mine lol.the only thing tats different in this tutorial is tat i dont draw those blue guidelines!!
(even the pen stroke is the same=.

lazydragon In reply to KaelNgu [2007-06-09 12:17:57 +0000 UTC]
haha yayhh!! Yah my inking technique quite common la. ^^ What differentiate the end result is the way you control your lines and the basic guidelines. very important lor the guidelines, without that i dunno how to pose my character.

clean? O_O eraser.. la.. O_O;;;
or were u talking about cleaning the pencils digitally??
if got some lebih-lebih pencil lines yg degil, usually use photoshop level tools can clean it oredy. ^^

VulpineNinja In reply to lazydragon [2007-06-09 14:33:59 +0000 UTC]
not digitally. Traditional style. Mmg la guna eraser... tp kdg2 nampak lg kesan pensil >_<
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
lazydragon In reply to VulpineNinja [2007-06-09 15:26:16 +0000 UTC]
make sure waktu sketch tu tak tekan sgt and kualiti kertas tu bukan yg high-absorbency. Tp aku kekadang sketch2 gune pencil gelap sgt mesti tinggal kesannyer, tu pasal edit gune photoshop. Kalau artwork yg mmg purposely 100% for digital use, aku pakai pencil 2H dan HB je. And make sure pemadam jenis kualiti gak. Aku pakai Pentel (dgn "jaket" ijau) eraser yg tak byk habuk tu. Setakat ni pemadam tu plg best. :3

When did you transfer the sketch to the nice white paper? lol I don't know if you get what I mean, but like did you do the Basic Inking over the pencil sketch it's self and erase the pencil after the ink dried, or did you do something else?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
lazydragon In reply to ChristophTofu89 [2007-06-06 13:47:15 +0000 UTC]
the ink and the sketch is on the same paper. ^^ sketch it with pencil, overline the pencil lines with pens on the same paper, and yeah erase the pencil lines after the ink dried.
hmm.. Tracing the pencil lines on another paper for inking is not a bad idea but you need a lightbox to do that. O_O I don't have one.

ChristophTofu89 In reply to lazydragon [2007-06-06 14:14:49 +0000 UTC]
That's what I thought. I've used a light box at school, they don't seem too hard to construct. We used to have a small coffee table that had a glass top and I would just put a light underneath it and it worked just the same as a light table lol.

lazydragon In reply to ChristophTofu89 [2007-06-06 14:46:40 +0000 UTC]
yeah, my seniors improvised a lightbox like that too. ^^ just that I never bothered to make one because I don't think it's necessary for me. Anyways I heard if you're using lightbox too often it could damage your eyes. O_O issit true?? how's your experience using lightbox thus far?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
ChristophTofu89 In reply to lazydragon [2007-06-07 03:17:52 +0000 UTC]
I only used it as a kid when I was first teaching myself to draw haha. And my eyes aren't too bad lol I can't see far away, but that's just in my genes haha. Other then that, I'm sure prolonged exposure to bright light would damaged the retina, so yes, I'm sure it's possible to damage the eyes like that. My school had a real light table lol, I just improvised my own when I was a kid lol.

lazydragon In reply to ChristophTofu89 [2007-06-07 13:24:16 +0000 UTC]
wah your first experience with lightbox was when you're a kid. O_O I never knew about lightboxes right untill I was about to finish highschool. T^T Not much exposure here. Btw, you're still in high school right? What do u plan to do after uni? Take up art?

ChristophTofu89 In reply to lazydragon [2007-06-09 04:22:58 +0000 UTC]
Haha well my first art experience was with a projector haha. My dad airbrushes, so when he needs to pain banners, he uses the projector so he gets a bigger image lol I used that in Kindergarten for a book report haha. And yes, I've known about light tables since I was a kid ~.~;; lol Never needed to use them, just played with them really. And I "graduated" like 3 weeks ago. I'm going to see how I like being a CNA (nurse) and if I like it I'll be a doctor, if not, I'll stick to it till I have enough for art school ~.~:; Lol I just want to have a degree in art somehow haha.
(I say "graduated" because I was .25 credits short when it came to graduation, so I have to wait till July to make it up and fully graduate lol X.x;; )

oo sgt proper jua ur sketches. for me i usually hentam saja using pen. if got guidelines it'll be as bold as the pen. i'm so hopeless when it comes to inking lol.
which explain my messed-up-collection-of-pens. T_T
many thanks for sharing. i'll do it WITH guidelines now. btw, ayez, honestly saying, i think the poses of your characters are AWESOME...n you're good at composing a picture (made of several characters, of course) i wish i have that quality ;_;
this is definitely going to my fav list

lazydragon In reply to aDerein [2007-06-06 13:49:45 +0000 UTC]
hentam using pen oso i do maa. but that one usually for simplified inking like chibis la. For art with more than one character with dynamic pose and psycho facial expressions etc etc, die la tak sketch dulu. O_____O;;
thankyou so much for the fave!

lol dw u deserve it!
i hentam on all....kecuali work yg pakai technical pens...hehe yang tu mmg sakit la kalau completely w/o guideline.
nak kena sharpen skill....uh...
