Godzilla - King of the monstersZBrush 4, Photoshp CS4, Vue 8 and photography.
the concept of Godzilla here is to create a fat, massive, chunky clumsy, nuclear monster (heisei inspired). I sticked to Godzilla being a dinosaur. If there ever is a species of a marine theropod, that would be his kind. I gave him a massive tail, just for him to swim better and faster and also to balance the heavy body.
The texture is inspired from the millennium G-Suit. I think that is the best skin texture for G. I like the millenium G suit, especially the texture and armor, but the heisei g-suits remain my fave. i really dont know why its my fave, maybe because, of his size and power and for having a very exprssive face, he can actually grin and you will think that he is really angry...
It took me more than 2 weeks to complete this piece, but it took me 1 year to conceptualize and sketch and decide on how he'd look like.

So out of curiosity what would be a considered a Category 5, just want to know since Godzilla's breath tend to greatly vary in power and damage.

Better than the official design imo, it makes more sense how his stance is more therapod-like and he doesn't drag his tail around. But i would make the arms bigger though

Guess that someone has been eating to much at McDonald's during his hiatus from 2003 ( or 2004 ) up to now.
But anyway, this is a very interesting take on Godzilla that I actually like a lot and his powers really make him look extremely powerful. Overall, pretty cool.
And Gigan didn't stood a chance.

Actually, that version was my main source of inspiration. I grew up with the film and following animated series, and I get depressed seeing all the hate they get

Your not alone. there's a generation who grew up with zilla. my stepson prefers zilla over the original. i know a few more who digs Zilla.
I dont hate Zilla, i just couldnt connect to it as much as the Japanese originals. but i love the Zilla creature design though.

Well, I know a lot of people are, but I'm reserving judgement. Gareth Edwards did state that his version will also reimagine the creature and his origins to some degree. I personally have no problem with differences between different incarnations, but I'm sure at least some purist fans will be disappointed. They've already been mistaking shots of the M.U.T.O./Muto/Hokmuto (whichever it's called) for Rodan and such like. Personally, I'm not planning to see it myself; it looks very dark, intense and serious (considering the fantastical nature of the main monsters) and I don't really go for that kind of thing. Maybe I'll watch it later, when comes out on DVD or Movies on Demand...
Generally, I like to be open-minded when it comes to different incarnations of characters, and Godzilla is no exception. The 1998 rendition (I still consider him at least "a" Godzilla) is very different, yes, but it does pay tribute to the original (better a fiery power-breath of some sort than nothing at all, right?
Anyway, I'll just wait and see what the new Godzilla is like, and enjoy what appeals to me about it (I'm already intrigued about the Hokmuto(?)). But yeah, the 1998 film and cartoon were real favourites of mine as a kid in the 90s, so I like them as well and always will.

It is a truly impressive design, and it makes him look very intimidating and very realistic.
Still, I would have preferred longer, more muscular and more developed arms and legs, to make him more able to move; also, I would have liked him to be a little more human-like, but that's just because I grew up with all the "man in a rubber monster suit" stuff, so it's the nostalgia talking.
I have nothing to criticize on the technical side.
