added †Rhamphorhynchus muensteri  from the "suborder" (not really considered an actual classification by most) †Rhamphorhynchoidea  (long tailed primitive pterosaurs), Caelumareturtur magnificens (magnificent skyturtle) from the suborder Caeluturem (sky turtles), and a subfamily I forgot, Fugasciurus (power flight squirrels)(species Pterosciurus rocky (western pterosquirrel)). also edited the anatomy of H. unlikelus to match the newer drawings I have of them.

-previously-
just a rough sketch of various flying tetrapods, both magical and non-magical. all are terrestrial, so no aliens. also no pokemon, just creatures from the kingdom Animalia (pokemon are molecularly different from Tetrahelixes). all have wings, so no creatures like wingless lungs/eastern dragons. I had been sketching up some various creature concepts and I wanted a good way to compare them, so I whipped this up a while ago. I'll probably do a full blown picture later on. I might also add some other winged tetrapods from other franchises, like The Croods.

shown groups:
suborder Quatalaerania (quad winged frogs) species shown: Dualisrana quadala*
suborder Pteranosimiana (pteranosimians) species shown: Homopteranus unlikelus*
order Chiroptera (bats) species shown: Corynorhinus townsendii (Townsend's big-eared bat)
order †Alacaversamada (Sharovipteryx decedents) species shown: †Pretiumpenna alienum*
class Aves (birds) species shown: Diomedea exulans (wandering albatross)
family †Dromaeosauridae (raptors) species shown: † Microraptor gui
order †Fantasipterosauria (Peters' scizosaurs) species shown: †Redicudactylus peterii**
order †metadactyla (metacarpal gliders) species shown: Carpuscutem hamodens*
family Felisumadae (bat cats) species shown: Chiropantherus vispellio (night skypanther)*
family Megacolugodae (winged lemurs) species shown: Psudobattus milvus (giant megacolugo)*
order Pterosauria (pterosaurs) species shown: † Pteranodon longiceps
order †Clipilludae (clip heads) species shown: †Papiliocresta maximus*
order Cockatricea (cockatrices) species shown: Gallusmortem opicletalis
suborder Bipewyverna (bipedal wyverns) species shown: Naddero toxiaculeus (deadly nadder)***
suborder Quadwyverna (quadraped wyverns) species shown: Monstrumignis crepitus (monstrous nightmare)***
order †Insectiamimus (dragonfly lizards) species shown: †Odonatamimus quadala*

*my own groups
**based off of the work of David Peters. I don't hate the guy "(ok maybe a little), just the false information. wish the guy would make them a fantasy/fake order and call it good.
***species shown from HTTYD, however there are wyverns in many different realms

not included but will probably be added (open to suggestions):

currently the only species here that is magical is the cockatrice, although magical wyverns do exists in other dimensional realms and can be quite powerful. wyverns should not be confused with dragons, which are classified as (vertebrate) hexapods (although many species have more than six limbs). neither species are closely related to diapsids, rather are believed to be highly derived synapsids, the non magical species thought to have broken away from the mammalian line during the early Triassic.

Always liked this type of composition. Seen it used in a lot of more dramatic group shots, and it makes whatever you put into it look even cooler.
