That's a funny thing... my uncle's wife is from China and when he was in this country he wanted to try dog. They went to the restaurants and called some but they only get response like : "Don't be funny" , "Don't waste our time" etc. But it probably depends of part of the country.

You know cannibalism is still practiced in some very remote areas of the planet. If a traveler took photos of human babies on a spit over an open fire, I wonder how many would think that was art and a cultural lesson. Famine, hunger, starvation couldn't possibly mean that perhaps there are too many HUMANS on the planet, and not enough resources to feed the ever spreading virus of humanity. Nawwwww. That's insanity!

LOL I wouldn't care any more than I do about any other living thing.
Life eats Life, that's the way the world works!
Humans deserve to be killed and eaten more than cows do.

... You realize that there are places where dog meat is part of normal diet, just like cow or pig or chicken is part of normal diet of many people across Western countries? It's not a matter of starvation, it's a matter of culture.

Yes culture. And I admire the American Indian culture that considered food and nature a Gift to be thankful for and something to be treated with respect. Thanks was given to the animal that died to sustain the life of the human. Respect. Period.

You realize that clumping a very diverse group of people into one? Or that there were many cultures around the globe which have a similar approach to food and resources - like Japanese or ancient Celts??? Or that the effect on nature is minuscule as long as the ethnic group is relatively small, but kinda gets visible wen the group grows and needs to find a stable source of food or settles in one place?

You had mentioned culture and that different cultures have routine practices normal to themselves, including what they eat. My admiration for the American Indian culture (which is a small part of my own heritage) was not meant as a platform for discrimination. Perhaps I should have said Cherokee, Dakota, Chippewa, Japanese, etc. etc., but I did not feel it necessary to make a detailed report simply to express an admiration of a certain viewpoint of our planet, nature and the life upon it. Personally I don't care what race, color, religion, culture, or gender follows these practices ~ I admire any that show respect and care to the planet we live on and the life that sustains us all. Respecting/giving thanks for what we are provided with touches most cultures. And I believe that living creatures that sacrifice their lives that we may live should be treated humanely and with respect and thanks. How this can be offensive eludes me.

Wow, just wow. This is a well deserved DD. It brings about emotions in all of it's viewers. And it's a conversation starter. In some countries, people see this as survival. You eat what you have. In others, it's completely wrong.
To me, it's sad that places still feel it as okay to eat something most of us look at as a loved family member. But at the same time, even though I truly love my dogs and wish this to no pet... It's not avoidable where food is scarce. I just hope someday all over the world, there would be no starvation so this wouldn't happen.

It's not necessarily due to starvation. It's it's also part of the culture. Cows are considered sacred in some countries, yet in Many areas of the world, beef is consumed. Is it terrible that we 'still feel it's okay' to eat what they consider sacred? And on our part, it's definitely not due to scarce food resources. We could easily choose to avoid eating beef, but yet, most of us still choose to. What does that say. Anyways, sorry to rant, no hard feelings meant, I just feel that many people don't think this subject through.

I understand that. But most of these practices raised out of necessity for food. That is what a lot of people seem to forget. Being picky about food back when we were still learning as people wasn't an option. You ate what you had. A lot of the recipes and food habits we have now were made through not throwing out what was left over. Look at blood sausage for example, and many of the other daily things we consume. Sandwiches, cheese, etc.
For me, eating cats and dogs isn't my cup of tea. Only if I was truly desperate and starving would I consider it. Even then I don't think it would float over well for me. The reason why I said something about starvation, is because I remember reading something involving this. That in certain famines that this practice was taken upon by people who wouldn't regularly do that. Yes I wish this wasn't a part of our culture. But no one, not even me, can avoid the fact it is.
I will admit though, I eat meat regularly. To me, cows are not sacred. But if I was in an environment where the act of eating a cow was frowned upon. I wouldn't eat it. Yes it's food to them, but to me because I have choices, I choose not to look at dogs and cats as food choices. I bet if I was raised there though, it wouldn't bother me.
I'd be a vegan if it was cheap, and most of the foods agreed with my stomach. :/

If you're making people uncomfortable with your art, you're doing it right. Yes, this might be kinda a gory photo, but technically, it's just food. It's not like we've never seen an image of a dead chicken, it's just that we tend to see dogs more as pets then food. other cultures don't.
I think this is a very beautiful photo, in a gruesome way haha, you deserved the DD

I think this was a well done piece. The content may be objectionable to other viewers, but this brings out thought. ANd that's what art is supposed to do, evoke emotion.
I just find it interesting at the amount of people who protest the gore here... and yet watch scary movies, or horror movies, or even... the news. CNN, CBC, Fox... all of them have shown more gore, blood, and bodyparts strewn across landscapes, and you hear nothing. Torture porn(Hostel, SAW), was made so popular, because so many viewers wanted it and appreciated it. Look at the amount of violence/gore in videogames... and how much the producers of those make due to the amount of them sold.
Maybe this picture just brings to attention how twisted, hypocritical, and how much of a double-standard our societies have.

We can see this as shocking because we see dogs more as friends, they live with us, and we have learned that they have their own characters, emotions, loyalties, and fears.
If we gave the same open-minded consideration to the animals we eat, we would be shocked, and stop slaughtering, cutting up, and eating their body parts.

Après ça n'est qu'une photo, je pense que voir ça en vrai avec l'odeur et tout me ferais changer d'avis.
