Description
These are Halflings. You all know about these guys. Tolkien called them Hobbits and dungeons and Dragons called them Halflings. The only major difference from Tolkien’s Hobbits is that these don’t have Giant harry feet.Predating Tolkien Scots had a term Hauflin which meant a teenage boy who is neither man nor boy but a bit of both, and another word for that very same thing was Hobbledehoy or Hobby. So we can see the progression to fantasy for little humans half the size normal humans.
The Halflings in this series are pretty much the same as Halflings and Hobbits in any other fantasy series; I wouldn’t want to ruin the already great character and culture they possess. They are charming as they are, no need for dinosaur riding barbarian Halflings *cough*...Ebberon…*cough*. They like to eat, are very agile, have brown to dark brown hair, are 3 feet tall, live in hill houses, can be very urban or rural and mingle with many different races and are generally pleasant and quant folk. They are less like fey and more like the normal socially advanced races; like dwarves, Elves and Humans, for example. But they are part of the Hobb family nonetheless. In fact, Tolkien’s versions of them were immortally linked to the Hobb family by being called Hobbits.

I don't think Tolkien Hobbits are legal outside of anyone who has a liscence or copywrite for them. But haflings aren't a Tolkien creature and niehter are Hobbs, they are in myth before he was ever born and aren't copywritten by him, just Hobbits are, which are his versions of them. Kind of like Ed Greenwood and his Drow Elves for Forgotten Realms. while Dark Elves aren't his Drow Elves are.

Very informative. So your halflings and gnomes are related to goblins then? That's interesting, my hobbits are a blend of Tolkien's hobbits and D&D's halflings as well, althought they do still have the big furry feet. lol

No they're Hobbs and aren't related to goblins (Boggies) directly, however Boggies jump off from the Hobb tree----> [link]
I wanted to give them big furry feet but that is Tolkien's spin on Halflings and not in the public domain. his son and granchildren still own the copywrites to hobbits.

I am always a fan of Halflings and agree there is no need for extreme deviation like dinosaur riding. At least there comes a point where the association with what is now a radically creature is a moot point.

Ebberon Halflings are deffnitly no longer halflings. It's almost comical, in fact. They're like caveman halflings. Halflings from a Flinstone episode.
