Description This is a Wight (aka Haug-Bui) . It is a creature wrapped in several definitions, but for our purpose we will deal with the undead version. They have been depicted as wrath like and corpse like, so why don’t we make them both, semi-corporeal able to do physical damage but still not all here, much like the banshee. Not sure how wights are made, but I know they used to be humans. They are tied to a spot, like the Burrowights from Tolkien’s stories, and cannot leave certain locals, like haunts. I don’t think they can travel through walls like ghosts, but I do think they can phase into and out of corporeality. How do they hurt people? Well we can see they can claw your face, but I think they can curse and drain stamina somehow as well. Haven’t decided how they should be made, any suggestions? They must be human and they are evil.

I've read something in the Last Apprentice where a wight is the re- animated body of a dead fisherman. Usually blind, but very powerful. They are often used by witches for their evil witch purposes.

Question: would Wight be another name for Poltergeist, or are those different ghost?

I think poltergeist would be different, I just call them ghosts.

Plan on adding Poltergeist to your Manual?

No, not really. I think poltergeist is a word for some kind of spiritual/supernatural being making mischief in your house. It could be a brownie, a ghost, an imp, etc...

poltergeists are a special type of ghost. It is always invisible and it mostly just makes noises and throws objects. However sometimes they they go deadly and start throwing stuff like knifes, frying pans, ect ect right at the person.
the only way to get rid of them is exorcism

But it's not a human spirit. It's either a demon or an imp. and I already have those. To me poltergeists are either redundant or too vague on what they are. Many other creatures can fit the buck.

Ugly, creepy and evil. The perfect Wight.
I've always imagined them to be the semi spiritual remains of greedy people that couldn't let go of their possessions and protect them even in the afterlife. That'd explain them being bound to a certain location, seeing as they don'twant to leave their property unguarded.

That makes sense.

Yes, he is already penciled and inked, I just have to marker him. I have a Vampire Lord, Dulahan, Nosferatu, Vampire Spawn, Wendigo, Ectoplasm, and Will O' Wisp all inked and ready to be markerd. They will be the final undead entries.

I saw these guys in Merrowind. Neat, didn't think they were that prevalent in myth to consider. Maybe, I have to see if they aren't a redundant concept of already well established undead types. If they hold up enough on their own then yes, there ie potential, if they are too similar then we can say they are another name for "such and such" undead.

They souind neat, but rememebr, they are going to be in a fantasy world, so they would have to be seen to exist ourside scandinavioan culture. for example, a mummy can be made in other places besides Egypt, we've seen them. And Banshees can be used outside of Ireland, this is something I consider when looking at myth. But from what I see so far they look like they could be anywhere in wht world. I will have to read a bit more on them. I don't wan just a scandinavian zombie, but I think thet may be more than that. Thanks for the link though, there's a good chance I may make them.

hollow beings. never have been and never will be. a false existence, craving some amount of existence, sucks the life out of the living, who exist, and hunt for ghosts, that once did.
