Description Don't get me wrong, but do you think Peter David was trying to say something when he asked me to draw this page? LOL!

Whatever Peter David thought,I loved the Savage Dragon. Just a great, fun and kinetic read - with a little comic irreverence in the mix for good measure.

Best,

Liam.

and i idont know if you  are interested or nto but this is erik larsens response to the hulk with a  fin on his head  about a year  later in  dragon 64

Ha! I missed his rejoinder. I actually thought Peter David was out of order. I'm not really in the game of calling out other creators... but I guess it was all harmless enough!

i got my hands on  savage dragon  1 to 101  recently
and there was  quite a  heated  conversation between larsen and david at the time   (  mostly contained in  the letters page of  the savage dragon  20  21  and  22  )
but i like to think all that is water under the bridge by now
it is after all  almost  20  years ago

I have those issues and I have to say they are my favorite Hulk issues of all time.
Any idea if they will ever do a TPB of that run ?

This is great. Yes, there was more to SD than just Hulk with a fin, but that's what you get when you have big, green muscles.

I think it must have been, though I didn't take any notice of that kind of stuff. PAD was always having bouts. Good publicity I suppose...

Thanks man.

again, the arms! jesus the arms! veins popping out where veins have no business being! haha

love that rubber fin though!

LiamRSharp In reply to D37HB01 [2008-03-03 14:41:31 +0000 UTC]

Well, it WAS the Hulk! I think I was the first to really give him the veins, though I could be wrong. He'd been pretty smooth before me...
McFarlane did him even bigger, but because I gave him the narrow waist it looked insane. I was all about being OTT in those days!

OTT = over the top?

then definitely, the 90's were a turbulent time for comics and comic creators alike, yet an awesome visual feast for the readers...haha

thank you for your contribution!

recently me loves the savage dragon!!
did ya pitch that thingie to erik larsen? probably he
likes to see, but hasn´t seen it yet, for his personal reasons with the company itself...err...y´know, those reasons creators have with big companies..

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

LiamRSharp In reply to RalphNiese [2008-03-03 14:31:44 +0000 UTC]

This actually ran in The Hulk, in about '94, '95. Betty was suggesting disguises, and the Hulk is contesting how much of a disguise a rubber fin might be... LOL! It was a clear swipe at Larson, but there was so much more to The Savage Dragon than just the Hulk with a fin on his head...
Funny though, and hopefully he took the gag with good humour.
