Description Aha! I found a copy of my short swords piece when it was still Conan. This was used for a pitch that sadly never amounted to anything.
One day I WILL do a Conan story though - I'm determined!

Holy crap, Conan is perfect, gritty drawn and mean looking. Only thing letting the pic down is the background, it's too digital I feel...

Re. the background - I like it because it has that perfect symetry that you get in architecture. I wanted it to feel that it was brand new in this time - the time of the picture - though somehow archaic to our eyes.

And it is definately in the spirit of Robert Howard's descriptions!

Certainly my favorite deviation ever, so far!

I did a Sonja oneshot, and am negotiating another at the moment. I came REALLY close to doing Conan, but for some reason it fell through...

Thanks all! I was really happy with this piece, I have to admit. I felt I got him right. I loved Barry Smith, Frazetta and Buscema's Conans, and here I tried a mix of all three - Frazetta's stark brute, Barry smith's exquisite detail and Buscema's brooding mass. I felt I kind of got close to achieving that.
