Stunningly good work. Love the realism melding into the soft impressionistic background. Thank-you.

I'm really curious about how you work...
where can I get better informations and details ?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

LiamRSharp In reply to bipeds [2007-08-12 11:50:57 +0000 UTC]

Hi bipeds.

This piece was a very tight pencil drawing, scanned into photoshop, where I added the snow and more layers of texture to the bark of the tree, and in the woodland background. All of this story was produced using that technique. There's a piece in my gallery called "Sullen Hulk" which is the same technique, but using colour.

Hope this helps!

Regards,

Liam.

Not nearly enough! LOL!
But I did a lot of writing for the Event Horizon anthology, both as myself and under pseudonyms - Roger M.Cormack and Ralph Raims.
Always looking to do more...

Very best,

Liam.

Haha Ralph Raims, that's pretty clever! Don't hit me, but I'm not familiar with Event Horizon...the last time I heard a comic called that, I think, was a bad Wildstorm crossover

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

LiamRSharp In reply to jhames34 [2007-02-18 20:11:00 +0000 UTC]

Heh! You worked it out...

Event Horizon is an award-winning anthology for MamTor (www.mamtor.com), which is my publishing company.

We're still selling them on the site half price. It's a very beautiful thing, but we struggled like hell to get any decent distribution and for retailers to stock us. Sad, but worth every drop of sweat it took to creat the thing - and it alowed a lot of unsung and unknown great talent to be seen along-side some genuine industry greats (Glenn Fabry, Simon Bizley, Ash Wood, Alan Grant, Greg Staples, to name a few.)

Thankfully I never saw the Wildstorm cross-over...

Very best,

Liam.

Thanks for the info, if i'm ever not at a below-poverty level, I'll pick it up Seriously, though, I mean it. The fact that you're building a publishing company on your own is a noble thing to me, and I can tell by what you've said that you're proud of it yourself!
Actually there is ONE good thing about the Event Horizon wildstorm crossover: Barry Windsor-Smith did a bunch of the covers for it!

Thanks all.

To answer a couple of questions and points: Some of the pages were done as seperate drawings pulled together in Photoshop, but mostly they were composed as complete pages in pencil, then just touched up digitally. I tried to keep it subtle so you could still see the drawing though.
As regards the texture, I'm a sucker for a bit of energy and rawness. There's so much sleek Photoshop work out there that I wanted to go the other way, and mix the rough with the smooth.

Very best, and thanks again!

Liam.

I see you found the werewolf in the snow Excellent work! Yupp, this really gave me a kick in the butt to get back in the saddle with my own project again. Wish I could pick your brain on that subject sometime as you have a lot of experience in the comic field (and mine is limited to reading, hehe)
Another fact I like with this, is some rough lines mingled with the soft shading.

LiamRSharp In reply to Kittensoft [2007-02-05 17:26:04 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, it was in Vampirella magazine, a couple of years back now I guess. I think it was the last issue before the larger size mag folded, so not many people saw it.
Who knows - maybe it'll make one of the collected editions down the line...

Thanks for asking!

Best,

Liam.
