Description
Psyche Dalek: Second expansion eraCreated to capitalise on the Daleks' natural psychic abilities, Psyche Daleks were bonded to a biomechanical amplification and fitted with specially adapted manipulators that could broadcast and receive mental impulses. They were used to dominate and control other lifeforms and to monitor other Daleks for signs of dissent.

Here it is, updated sucker arm and all. Not sure why the big brain goes like that under a 'sun' light in Blender...ho hum.
[UPDATE: Hah! Finally fixed the materials so that the big brain blob shows up better through the glass (yay for glowing textures). Also minor edits to the rest to improve the model]
Daleks = Terry Nation estate, Ray Cusick, BBC etc. Not mine in any real or material form. This particular variant was originally created by Paul Cornell in the story 'Emperor of the Daleks!', with visual design being done by Lee Sullivan.

Hmm, a right little gestapo.
Pity the psyche daleks never made an appearance, they'd livened up the show. I'd love to see what affect their mental abilities would have on a Time lord.

There is a bit more detail than shows up hear - for some reason the sun lamp I use to light these orthos mucked up the brain's skin colour...
And the way I see it, it's not the mutant's brain, exactly, more a sort of organic amplifier grafted on top - amplifying the mutant's psionic powers but not actually presenting an easy target to the enemy (this is justifying the original design, where I imagine the idea was that it *was* the creature's brain...)

You know, I've always been rather dubious of that cross-section. I think it's because it doesn't entirely gel with what was shown on screen. That said, I do like the idea of them be distributed around the casing like that. And the imagery of them being a true mesh of organic and machine throughout is rather interesting. Especially for the Imperial Daleks, where it could work well as Davros making them more dependent on casings of his design, further tying them to his leadership....

Love the arm Actually the whole thing looks rather good given the rather silly original concept. I like the brain having the eye stalk and ear lights attached directly to it, makes me think of Mother Brain from "Metroid".

Thanks! I've never really played Metroid, so I'll have to take your word for it!

I think you have to admit there is a vaguely Dalek whiff to Mother Brain... [link]

Very good rendition mate!
I would love to see this Dalek on the small screen one day.
I do hope that glass dome is harder than it looks.

A bit like that transparent Dalek in Revelation of the Daleks then?
Fair enough mate.

Psyche Dalek : "As always, I am the brains of the operation".
Every other Dalek: "YES, we get it already, SHUT UP !!!!".
