Description International Rescue's big red rocketship.

I swear there's nothing you can really add or take away from this design. It's just...a big red rocket. And anything else isn't TB3. Still, the cargo bay, docking tube and manipulator arms now mean it can actually *do* something during a rescue, rather than just sort of flying up to offer moral support.

I, of course, still own nothing. Gerry Anderson, however, owns Thunderbirds, at least in the sense of making them up in the first place.

Thunderbird 3 was always my favourite when I was a kid.

Didn't it have a window in the cone?

No the original, no. Chiefly because the pilots were sitting down with the nose cone above their heads (think skyscraper rather than ship). Acceleration means that 'gravity' inside a rocket points from nose to tail, so that's how the original TB3 was laid out. I copied that for this model.

I should really grab my DVDs and rewatch the whole thing...

Very nice. Liking the manipulator arms.
To be honest, I never saw the point of TB3 being a colossal rocket. But I suppose most of its bulk is the engines and power plants.

It's still the best way to get into orbit. But yes, it definitely needed something to actually rescue things with!

Doesin't look that different to the 2004 film version in my view.

Well, the film design for TB3 isn't actually that much different from the original, and I borrowed some of the design cues from the movie version for this.

That said, you can see an updated version in this WIP sheet:

I really should update the main 'showroom' shots at some point...

Nice to see Thunderbird 5, even if it is not separate from the other images.

You do get a lot of moral support from something that big and RED.

Great work.

A point that must not be overlooked!

Cheers!
