Description
In Menurei, Arena battles were a large source of entertainment for the masses 2000-3000 years before present day. As the centuries moved on by, the ways fighters would entertain the audiences would change. One example of this would be the variations of Heavy Cleaver Swords that would arise, all made out of bronze, easily melted back into new weapons when they break. And indeed they do.Their wide and oversized design holds no practical value, but serve as ways for audiences to relate a specific sword with a specific fighter, as well as actually see the fighters in the arena swing all the way from their seats. The more a sword was bathed in victory, the more the populace recognize its shape and look, and therefore the fighter who wields it. Therefore, arena fighting evolved to become more flashy and showy, to fulfill the purpose of drawn out spectacle rather than a quick finish. After all, the longer the audience watches, the more money the arena would earn.
Entire mythologies have been raised around these swords, with the public not even knowing that oftentimes, it is not the same sword that a fighter wields in the arena, but a replacement cast with the same mold. None of these blades at their current proportions would be of any practical use on the battlefield, with how wide and soft compared to steel they were. But each of them have character if their wielder chooses to give them so.
The one which looks like the silhouette of a hammer, is a popular beginner's sword thanks to its longer handle and wider crossguard. It is called The Trovellei.
The curved blade with rings on the spine is called the Slacktshiam. It is a strange curved sword in that its cutting edge runs only on the inward curve, and the other side is dotted with holes.
The one which seems to be a two-pronged fork is called PorteVinila, and it was by far the most recognizeable and replicated design.
The blade with a knuckle guard on the handle- one of the few of these Heavy Cleaver Swords to have such a feature- was called Esecumare, or The Executioner.
The blade flaring like a Mistletoe leaf is named Shigastan, inspired by smaller dagger designs of actual Dark Knights.
So one day, I thought to myself.
"What if Gladiators were like the WWE?"

If Gladiators were like WWE then there will be a few short careers as a result.
