Description     The Hevrescht is a common weapon design for Elenthrieli nobility, a blade of a shortsword with a handle capable of being held by both hands. That is because of a special technique used by the Elenthrieli, specifically those trained in the ways of magic; They embed the hilt and pommel with special magical stones, and when infused with the stones' Syphir, blades of pure magical energy crystalize and engulf the physical blade.

This is called Hevsegen, a technique developed by Alphonzo Domitian during the Great Elenthriel War as a measure to counter enchanted Yovagondi weapons that would break normal steel in a touch. The shape of the extended magical blade is entirely up to the discretion of the wielder. As it would not affect the physical mass of the weapon, only the amount of Syphir consumed, the shapes of blade Hevrescht users can create can be as outlandish as possibly imaginable, such as a massive scythe-like hook to curve around shields and decapitate opponents... Or one could have no imagination and simply make a longer, wider version of the physical blade to extend their reach. Since mass does not change, creating massive magical blades that would weigh a dozen pounds if made of metal would be less effective than one would hope, so there are indeed limitations requiring a balance between ingenuity and foresight. "Hevsegen" refers to the technique, but is not exclusive to the sword. The technique has been applied to more weapons as well, such as shields, axes, spears, and bladed gauntlets. Hevsegen projectiles, on the other hand, are incredibly wasteful, as an individual magical stone would be needed for every arrow, which would be difficult in retrieving, and would also throw off an arrow's balance.

The magical crystal blades most commonly used are plain Syphir energy, but some advanced magic users have infused their Hevreschts with stones that give an additional aspect, such as fire, ice, poison, paralysis, thunder, or even gusts of wind or razor-sharp, boiling hot water torrents pulled from surrounding water vapor. Of course, the entirety of the hilt must be made with a magical catalyst metal, such as Vollicite. Sadly, Vollicite loses some magical properties when forged and heat treated, so the blade itself must be made with conventional iron or steel. Therefore, when adding additional aspects to the magical blades, one must keep in mind protective enchantments required to ensure the steel does not warp and lose hardness from the heat, or shatter from cold, or even rust.

Normally, element-less Havreschts are called "blanks", they look like milky glass that give off some light, and ice element Havreschts have the crystalline look of ice. Wind and water Havreschts are indistingushable from blanks, so you gotta be on your toes when you're fighting those. The shapes are as flexible as you want, but to change their shape, the first blade has to be dispelled, and that costs a lot of Syphir, enough to affect your physical vitality. I guess I might as well have to make a piece explaining Syphir, and how they're connected to magic and biology, as well as magical objects.

This was also partially an experiment in texture overlaying from some free-for-reuse textures I found on google images.
