pixiv / tumblr / anipanIt took a bit for him to grow on me but I think Amane is cool. I have had barely any time or motivation to draw lately but I got inspired by Amane last night and carelessly drew until 2 even though I had work at 5, hehe. Ironically, at first, I spent a good portion of my time despising him after hearing the news about Chronophantasma because I thought he was too cliche and he just wasn't clicking with me. But something about the way his face is drawn and his pose in the official art intrigues me and seeing other artists draw him made me want to try really bad.
Anyway, I didn't really want to upload this because in terms of quality it is not as high as I'd like but =Lativer is pestering me and it has been a while since I uploaded anything and I miss this place. I tried to go for a more ambitious (read: horrifyingly stupid) pose and really, really failed but I really like the feel of this picture and it was good lineart practice which i desperately need. That said, this may get a revamp in the near future especially since some details are lost in my inefficiencies with lineart.

Doesn't look bad at all to me, I know when to appreciate art. :} It's only the drill piece of the drawing that I pictured in my head and compared to GL. Simon with his drill on the mecha and the one he would use to dig in the beginning.

I see. I have never seen Gurren Lagann before. I have seen a lot of art for it and it looks interesting. Is it any good? Judging by all of the art and fans for it, it seems so.

I don't think I'm the right person to ask because I have mixed feelings for the series. Iβm not saying itβs bad, I gave it a 8 on my anime list. Itβs a very enjoyable show, the characters are likeable. The only thing that really bothered me was what it led up to (especially at the end). The explanations for certain things are just ridiculous, but please donβt just take my word for it. Everyone has a different opinion, you might end up loving the series like one of my friends. I tend to be harsh on anime, because I expect too much from it.

Ah, it's okay. I won't only take your opinion on it but the fact that you find flaws with it is cool by me and I thank you for sharing. Even though you claim to be harsh on it, I feel like your opinion is very genuine. Nothing is perfect and everything has some flaws but it seems to me that it strengths may somewhat make up for its flaws. I suppose the best way to judge it would be for me to try it myself

I will try it out. I think I can handle 27 episodes, haha and I'll be sure to share my thoughts. I don't watch very much anime mostly because there are so many to choose from and it's hard to choose one so it's nice to get recommendations or at the very least directions every once and a while

It felt really fast when I watched it, which means I actually enjoyed it. I've recently stopped watching anime for a while as well, the show might just get you watching some more. I can give you recommendations anytime, I have a bunch I love that are really great.
My all time favorite is Steins:Gate!

I have heard of Steins:Gate before actually but only the title... I have no idea what it is actually about but after reading the short wikipedia blurb it sounds pretty cool. Of course, I would be glad to give you them anytime. I don't know about recent ones that are good except for "Another", which is a horror anime. Not what I usually go, it was recommended by a friend of mine. Yes Steins;Gate is awesome! Let me tell you what Iβve told my other friends. Itβs confusing in the beginning and thereβs explaining but it all has a purpose in the plot so donβt stop watching it because itβs so worth it! I cried when it ended because I loved it so much. If you ask me which to watch first, I would say Steins;Gate for amazing story and very likeable characters or Gurren Lagann for lots of action and exciting animation.

Last I checked this picture is indeed Blazblue, haha. I have never played Darkstalkers before but I know who Morrigan is (who doesn't?) and now I am getting that vibe. Perhaps it is the pose? Or maybe it's the colors? I really wasn't expecting this comparison so I am not sure how to properly respond lol...

It's all cool. I didn't get that vibe until you said something but ~mirrorofmystics went and quickly elaborated on your statement and now I completely understand where the comparison is coming from.
So far Amane is my favorite design of the new characters. I really wasn't blown away by Chrono Phantasma until thinking about him for a couple of days but now I am sold (Not that Arc has a difficult time getting me to throw my money at them anyway haha).

Oh god...I hope Amane doesn't turn into the new "Bridget".
Bridget practically ruined the GG fanbase since he got so popular nobody even asked who Sol Badguy or anyone else was, they only cared about or cosplayed as Bridget.
You can like him...but just please remember that Ragna and Haku-men and the other BB characters exist!

At think part of that might be because Bridget also has a body type that isn't over the top and pretty average for cosplaying. And his outfit isn't as complicated as others. The popularity and recognizable design also help. Bridget also had the shock factor in-game. I remember being blatantly told that Bridget was a dude when I bought my first Guilty Gear game but still was surprised because I thought they were being stupid. That said, I don't think Amane will be the next Bridget (this is a gut-feeling). I feel like being told he was a guy was not shocking but then again maybe I am more properly conditioned to this stuff.
You say Bridget ruined the fanbase but don't you think he brought people in the fanbase (maybe even a little bit of people)? I know for some people Bridget was the gateway into Guilty Gear and sure, maybe they cared more about him than anyone else but it's better than having a dead fanbase right? When I see Bridget cosplayers now a days I am just glad there are some people still cosplaying Guilty Gear. And when people cosplay as other characters then that is just as great to me. After all, there are more rewarding characters to cosplay as nowadays.
And of course, I'll remember the other characters. But I will say I have a tendency to over-focus on certain characters, maybe Amane will steal all my attention or maybe he won't, we'll see. It was sort of hard for me to draw Blazblue characters who weren't Jin and Tsubaki for a while (But I did draw Hakumen once.... not Ragna though). At least Amane is different for me. And by different, I just mean new interesting subject matter.

No offense to Guilty Gear, but some days I prefer a dead fanbase to a zombie fanbase, if you catch my meaning.
I just want people to like GG on the whole, like I do.
BB too, is kindof a medium-like for me. I try to like the story more than I like it's characters though.

I do not prefer that at all... Guilty Gear cannot be successful without fans and those so called "zombies" are fans too. With no new fans GG would just die and with no new blood or money there would be no new GG games. Perhaps you are saying that in jest but I just want an alive fandom. I openly welcome any person who enters the fandom no matter what character they enjoy and ideally I would want them to stay and support GG for as long as they can. Personally, I don't think liking a single aspect of a game is a bad thing. It's a preference and everyone is allowed to have preferences. Like hell, all I draw is Ky ad nauseam so perhaps I am a zombie too...

I prefer fans who are at least dedicated to one character over fans who like one aspect of a game then hate it the next day for some ridiculous reason and just abandon it altogether. Flip-flopping opinions drive me nuts.
I think I'll stop griping now, since I like Ky fanart and it's not that often I see it.

I guess I am just defensive about it since I strongly prefer the fandom alive especially after spending time in a dead one and I prefer art of characters I hate over no art at all. I am not so judgmental on flip-flopping opinions as much since no one is perfect and people are prone to changes of heart. It is still sort of sad (and inevitable) to see people come and go though. I am not sure how much you visit pixiv (last I recall, not so much) but they get a trickle of Ky art every so often and the art they do get on a day to day basis isn't bad at all if want some art.

I thought about having a separate blog on tumblr to reblog stuff but it is just too much work and I can't say I am super active on tumblr unfortunately. All I really do is upload stuff to my art blog and like stuff sometimes but that is rare. I think I have enough trouble keeping my Deviantart and pixiv alive so the last thing I need is a tumblr addiction too, haha. But it seems like everybody is over there now so maybe I'll make it work. We'll see.

At first i didn't know who this was, his face is still new to me but he's actually my favorite out of the new bunch. Bullet reminds me of Zenia from Arcana Heart, its to early for me to say anything about the big guy, he's a bit like Slayer, and this guy kind of has that Jin vibe to him.
This is a nice illustration, I'm surprised you were able to get this out given your work schedule. Not much has been shown but this already looks like a possible attack that he might have, its interesting that you were able to read that far.

Sometimes, there are just some designs that inspire me enough that I know I have to draw them immediately. This character happens to be one of them even though, I am pretty sure I said to you that none of the BBCP characters spoke to me like a day before hahaha. I got inspired after seeing other artists' renditions of him and then really wanted to try my hand at it.
Luckily, drawing things in this style is not very time consuming and while it is not as polished my other methods I have a lot more room to experiment which is nice. This picture only took a couple of hours but that may be mostly because I generally draw on large canvases (this one is 18.5x18.5in). As for work, I am trying not to let it get in the way of my art. The first couple weeks or so have been rough artwise but I think after adjusting to the newer conditions then things should normalize. In the end, I may not be as productive as I was when I was jobless but I am definitely not putting a halt on creating art. I am pretty sure I was running on 2 hours of sleep yesterday because I choose finishing this picture over sleeping haha. It's a delicate balancing act.

The great thing about pieces of this style is that it doesn't take too long to do. I was originally planning on painting this but about 3/4ths of the way through I realized that coloring this would take ages which I didn't have time for, so I set a layer to multiply and did my thing.
At first, I felt so disappointed by the new characters. But this character speaks to me for some odd reason and the art of him on pixiv amused me. Now that I look at my piece again though, I cannot unsee Jam's face, hahaha.

I can't really be any more dissappinted with Blazblue than I already generally am, but he slightly reminds me of Hans, from the original Bloody Roar... [link] Mixed with Patchouli from touhou. 
Iunno, for me it's just another 3 really generic shiny fantasy character designs in a long lineup of them, expanded to cover a few more tropes (the crossdresser, the tough chick, and manly bara guy, from what I can tell). I'm just hoping this means the series will finally freakin' come to a close (or slow down, at least, so ArcSys can work on other things). Bitter? Who's bitter :V

A new Guilty Gear would be pretty sweet. But I am willing to wait if I have to... although I would be lying if I didn't say impatience has gotten the better of me on a couple of occasions, hehe. Mori said in the recent interview with Famitsu that there is more Blazblue past Chrono Phantasia but I can't imagine Guilty Gear being to far off in the future. Initially I was a bit skeptical of Blazblue but after playing it, finding a main, wrapping my head around the systems and not treating it as Guilty Gear's shadow and as a separate game I found it to be quite enjoyable. But with something so subjective our mileage will (and obviously do) vary. To each their own.

Ugh, well there is that horrendous XBlaze dating sim or whatever the hell it is, I know they've already got the teaser site up for that. Sigh, so BB's still got ArcSys by the balls for the foreseeable future and fans of any other ArcSys series are going to be utterly screwed and get nothing but rebalances over and over and over again unto eternity... -_- What else is new, I guess.
I suppose this is what fans of any Capcom franchise other than Street Fighter feel like constantly (cough, Darkstalkers.. still waiting on that, too...)

Wow, there is so much negativity and pessimism in your comments. I suppose it is understandable though seeing as we haven't had a new Guilty Gear in forever and there are no clear signs in sight. With that said, I think you should lighten up. Let's think on the bright side, Arc has the rights to Guilty Gear and I don't think they would have bothered even buying it back if they were just going to have it waste away. Also remember, some people happen to like Blazblue and may feel as strongly about it as you do with Guilty Gear.
