Hmm...you have a good point!People need to spell.
And I still don't get why people don't take the time to look over their comment.

yes! great that someone finally says sth now! thank you!
I think it is sad, that people give too less critique. It is hard to improve yourself.
All your hints you wrote on your deviation are all so right. thanks again!

Wonderful ideas. ^_^ I like how you compounded them into an attractive deviation as well.

Cool, I'll fav this and help spread the word.
Actually, I'm guilty for #6, I usually use it for sugarcoating my critics if I don't have enough good points to balance out the techniques et al. comments I make. Maybe I should focus more on giving positive feedbacks
I received #4 a lot and #8 sounds kinda scary O.o
I don't mind #4 when it's mentioned for the first time or if its used as a side comment, but I would imagine it getting repetitive if someone reuse their precious OC.
BTW on the artist side of #7, I see lots of "This was a rush job... I know there's a lot of mistake... how should I improve it"-type comments. Seriously, if you know that there's a lot of mistake, atleast state some of them or stay neutral about it. It's so hard to give well-constructed comments on these.

Xp what I hate is when an artist puts down that the want help getting better, but get upset when you do point em out.

If they don't have critique encouraged enabled and sound like someone who's about to jump a bridge or something, I tend to ignore their work (or atleast wait for the first brave soul to critique before me ). I play it safe, so I never had this problem yet

Amen! This is exactly what I'm talking about!
It's so good to know that there are others who understand the difference between favoriting a work of art and knowing why they would favorite it. Fellow deviants who I know personally are actually annoyed by pure appraisals and feel their true effort is ignored or not taken seriously. And I don't blame them, how does "Cuuuute, I want it!" sound serious?
I quit that a long time ago.

you're welcome ^_^
it's sad how many "cool." comments one gets. or smart ass remarks >.< one picture a guy asked me if the guy sitting on the other's shoulder was gonna break the other's neck. I'm sad to say I blew up amazingly at him.
what pisses me off the most are artists that hate getting critques and are simply happy with 500+ comments that say the same vapid thing.

Lylassama In reply to lilmissmaya [2006-06-28 21:50:02 +0000 UTC]
Insecurity at best. No real pride in their work.
I hate getting critiques or comments (at school) that attempt to refute my original interpretation and if anything are belligerent and crass. (I'm sure I'm just being a baby, since this is just a part of life, but) I have no time for negativity. Lately, I have been sticking closer to that "If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all" adage and if I see little to no improvement or variety in someone's work, something I look for almost exclusively, I make suggestions or just don't say anything.
If anything, your words should be a standard for the site. They are completely true. People have to learn to appreciate art and not just comment.

well I do like cupcakes....
unfortuantly lemmings and smart don't seem to go together. :/ they go off and overreact to everything and perform group flamings and such. man, you should see the sonic fandom, those are the perfect example of lemmings. apparently there is a group, and if anyone says anything bad against one of them(I'm not allowed to name them unfortunatly) they ALL come after you.

YES! XD I completely(sp?) agree with what you said! My favourite ones are 1, 5, 7, and 8. Especially number 5, alot of great pictures have been taken down by the artist because so many people said that what the picture was depicting was wrong! ... ^-^
