Description
Part 3 of my dragon anatomy series.
This section focuses on the all-important eye. Because the eye is complex, this is probably going to be the most text-heavy tutorial I ever make.
Do not underestimate the power of eyeshine.
Part 1: Basics
Part 2: Skull
Part 3: Eyes
Part 4: Basic Flesh
Part 5-1: Back Legs
Part 5-2: Front Legs
Part 6-1: Bat Wings
Part 7: Torso
Part 8: Facial Expressions

*hides under desk*
Quite scared by the little rant against people who don't draw eye sockets.. *ish cartoonist*

Well cartoonish is one thing.
Trying to draw realistically and leaving that out? Not so okay.
You don't mix this drawing style with cartoonish. You do cartoonish eyes for cartoons.
Obviously cartoons don't follow all the rules.

Okay XD But I object- this drawing style CAN be mixed with cartoonish. Or at least the tips you give can be used, and should be taken into account for any sort of animal :3 Thank you for all this amazing tutelige!

That's the ahrdest part about realism, yeah I think some people avoid it cos if you do it wrong they look even more messed up. Though still its no excuse for not just practising it

Side note, snakes don't have slit eyes... or at least not 90% of them.

Quick google image search says most of them do.

It depends if they are Colubrid, boids, pythons or whatever. There are more Colubrid than any other type of snake, (2 thirds I think!) and they have round googly eyes. XD
BUT THAT IS A MOOT POINT.
Good tutorial either way. I'm just being anal-retentive because I'm a Herpetologist and a dick.
