Description [EDIT] for bat wing movement, I HIGHLY suggest you check out the slowmotion fotage on this website, it's below the snake images [link]

Or maybe 1 of 3...

Does anyone know of any good sites about bat or reptile anatomy, I've found one on bats, but they seem to be lacking and I have yet to get any books on the subjects.

Not such a high quality this time, my arm wasn't behaving.
Pieced together from bird, human and bat.
Relatively speaking, I suppose a dragon's wing beats are weaker than a birds as the flight muscles are disterbed by the fore leg, but then larger dragons probably don't need to beat their wings as often due to span.

I will later update this with an added bit about wing shape and I'll add the skeletal structure later too.

Mine, feel free to look at and use as a referance, but do not claim as your own.

The examples of different wing shapes and the bonuses they each individually add is nice.

The classifications of different wing types, along with their attributes, was extremely helpful. Good tutorial.

Good work! One of the better(if not the best) wing reference I've seen here on DA.

One book you might want to try to find is "Predatory Dinosaurs of the World" by Greg S. Paul; it's out of print (as far as I know) and a little outdated in some regards, but it's the skeletal reconstructions you're after and those have held up remarkably well. In the first half there are diagrams of other reptiles' ribcages as compared to dinosaurs, and the information may help with other aspects of dragon biology as well. It's a little intimidadting at first, but I found it to be pretty readable.
I hope you can find it, and then find it useful. ^^

Either way it's helped me with my dragons.

I may update the flapping, I used bird and I don't think it's quite right... I'll make sure to mention when/if I do =3

Very cool. I really like your anatomy diagrams so far.

As for good references, I'm not sure about bats but I just recently discovered a series of books called The Illustrated (insert bird here). It's by renowned wood carver Denny Rogers but the book is awesome for any sort of artist. I have The Illustrated Owl: Screech and Snowy. This book has everything - especially a detailed section on wings and flight. It's got plenty of drawings and photos and diagrams. There's a second one in the series called The Illustrated Birds of Prey: Red Tailed Hawk, American Kestral, and Peregrine Falcon. They are available through Lee Valley. [link]

I know it's not bat wings or reptiles but birds are a little bit of both, huh?

I'll look into them, currently my Manual on Ornithology seems to cover birds well enough, but expanding my library is what I want =3
