Description
Model Challenge forThis is the flower I was given to work from.
My OC: Juniper Locke
I'm quite happy with how she turned out. After I was finished with the dress I got the idea for the flowers on the necklace and her shoe, but I wasn't going back and changing the dress. Making those flowers however killed my eyes, so I like them but at the same time got annoyed with them.

Well, it least in the end it turned outquite nice to be worth of all the dificulties .
With regard to this, I know this problem as well. Your eyes get tired of looking at some not too comfortable colour too long while making a doll. In this case I usually change the colour of the dress (just temporarily) to another one more comfortable, some colour that wouldn't hurt my eyes and at the same time make a good contrast to the D&D that I'm putting on it. And once I've finished with D&D, I change the colour back to the initial one.

I didn't even think of changing the color of the dress till I was on the bottom three-ish rows. Made the dress black. But that was after I had already placed the white and black parts of the flowers. I mostly just took lots of breaks in between working on this.

Probably black simply wasn't the most suitable colour here. But once you've found the right one, it works well.
And, just out of curiosity, can you tell how long it took?

No, lol my eyes hurt putting the black and gold parts of the flower on the yellow dress. Once I had made the dress temporary black it made it a lot less glaring and harsh on the eyes. Lol, I swear my music player was trolling me too. Twice while I was working on the dress before the color change it played "Blinded by the Light" by Manford Mann.
If I factor in the amount of time without the breaks maybe 2 and half-ish hours (not 100% sure) With the breaks closer to 8 or 9 hours. I got distracted a few times.

8 hours? That's a lot indeed. I can't afford myself to make anything longer than five hours, regardless of the breaks (because I make it on computer, that is). But with laptop, it is quite possible. I know some people keep the window open and make their dolls for several days or even weeks.

Wow, I thought my doll took a long time. Days? Weeks? Yeah I can see that for some of the really elaborate dolls I've seen. My brother gave me grief for how long I kept the maker open making this doll and her intro one. Can't imgine what he'd say about that. I'd be super afraid of losing my progress cause my laptop decided to update while I was asleep again.
lol, yeah It's on my laptop at home. But like I said not to sure on how long I actually spent on the doll cause I was watching anime or reading during my breaks. Actually that's how I stumbled across the her first name. I tripped over a book my goddaughter had left out when she had been over last and BOOM, inspiration for name. It was a Junie B. Jones book, and Juniper is Junie's first name.
Totally off topic but how do you get your text that small?

Well, you're lucky to have a laptop .
Elaborate pictures take a lot of time indeed, but not neccessarily days and weeks. For example, the longest time what a doll picture took me, so far, was just only about five hours without breaks at all (here it is if you'd be interested ).
As to the text settings, there is a good journal about it with many useful tips.

Thank you! That's what I was trying for. Wasn't completely sure at first that I was conveying the idea well enough so I had put the pic of the flower model there too.
I really enjoyed this though and am super happy you had the idea for this. This challenge has been fun, can't wait for the next parts.

Thank you! I got the idea for them as soon as I saw what flower I got. As soon as I was about half way finished with the flowers I got the idea for the fan cause some of the ladies in that background have some. I love the way it turned out. Lol, mostly it was my compromise to myself cause originally she had the fur lined cape. But the cape didn't work with the setting being inside and it threw off the look of the dress.
In her original concept I had a bit about how the fur cape was spun from willingly gifted from the creature is was sheared from. But I forgot to add that and then forgot most of it till just now, lol.
Super glad my computer didn't restart itself with updates like it did a week ago while I was making a different doll.

You're welcome! The cape idea would have been cool but it's probably better the way it is. I like hearing the original idea though! I'm glad your computer didn't restart too! Mine has done that before when I was making dolls for a Valentine's Day themed masquerade ball for another group I was in and I had to start all over. I was so mad! Anyway, awesome job!

Thank you! I glad i stuck with these cause at the half way point my eyes felt like they were burning just looking at the dress. I almost reset it a few times. But I think I would have cried if I actually had. Still it amused me greatly that I got black, white, and gold my flowers colors. Cause of my love-hate relationship with the colors. Love mostly cause of
(sorry I'm a babbling brooke today, too much coffee... )

Thank you! I had to take quite a few breaks making it cause it hurt my eyes putting all those on to a yellow dress. But I really love how it finally came out so it was worth it.
