Merrick gently sat tails down onto the couch, next to Misha. Both young foxes had been hurt in an accident, crashing into each other while playing in the playground. Poor Misha had injured her right leg, just above the ankle and Merrick suspected it might be broke. Tails meanwhile had hurt his left arm. Merrick did his best to make both youngsters comfortable while they waited for the ambulance to arrive.
"Shhh," he said, stroking Misha's hair. "Easy now. I know it hurts, but try to be brave."
He slipped a pillow behind her back before doing the same for Tails.
"The ambulance will be here soon, and then we can get you both some help."
Tenderly, Merrick wiped at Misha and Tails' cheeks, dabbing away the tears. Both were hurting and he wished he could do more for them. Perhaps after they had been to the hospital, he could get them both a special treat. They needed something to cheer them up...
