Venom walked along the corridors of the echidna base, his mind full of thoughts. Just the other day he had been best man at his grandmaster's wedding to June-La, and it had gotten him thinking about his own relationship with Layla. They were very happy, and loved to spend what time they could together, but Venom wondered if it might be time to take things to the next level. He made his way to Layla's quarters and paused to take a deep breath before knocking on her door. It slid open and Layla stood there, smiling when she saw venom.
"Hello, Handsome," she said, giving him a quick kiss.
Venom smiled back at her, feeling a faint blush enter his cheeks. Layla chuckled as she noticed.
"What's this now?" she asked teasingly. "Is my big strong Lieutenant blushing?"
Venom stammered slightly, rubbing the back of his head with his hand.
"I, well..."
Venom took hold of Layla's hands and gazed into her eyes.
"Layla, can we talk?"
"Of course we can," she replied. "What's on your mind?"
"Since the other day," he said softly, "I've been thinking. Mainly about us. We're both soldiers, and who knows what the future holds. So with that in mind."
Venom closed his eyes, pausing to take another deep breath before looking back into her eyes.
"Layla. What do you think about marriage...?"
