Description
Hisspan looked up as she heard the knock on the door. The cobra wiped her hands, stepping away from the sink, and headed into the living room to answer it. She grabbed the door handle, turning it and pulled. Almost instantly she was spun around, embraced in an enthusiastic glomp.
"HISSY!"
Hisspan laughed and hugged back as she realized her friend, Kenzie, had come for a visit. The young gecko reminded hisspan so much of herself with her energy and high spirits.
"Kenzie, how are you?"
There was no response and hisspan frowned, stepping back to look her friend in the face. The gecko's attention was focused somewhere else. Hisspan turned and looked at what could have captured Kenzie's attention. There, peeking from around from the other room were tow small faces: Hisspan's children Leon and Katlin.
"Are they your children, Hissy?" Kenzie asked, rushing over and scooping them up. "They're sooooo, adorable!"
The two kids giggled as Kenzie tickled and nuzzled them. Hisspan smiled.
"Kenzie, meet Leon and Katlin. Kids, this is mommy's friend, Kenzie."
Leon stopped laughing long enough to stare at the gecko holding him. He gave her a toothy smile.
"You Lewon and Kat-Kat's Untie?" he asked.
Kenzie nodded, bopping Leon playfully on the nose.
"Now and forever you handsome little puffball," Kenzie replied.
The gecko looked over at Hisspan, the biggest grin on her face.
"That is, if you don't mind, Hissy."
Hisspan returned the smile, nodding.
"Of course it's OK, Kenzie," she said. "The kids can never have too big a family."
Kenzie looked back at the children, flopping down onto the floor to play with them.
"Then it's settled," the gecko said happily. "Aunty Kenzie is here to play..!"
