Nobody had entered the tomb in ages. The Ushabti guardian statue stood motionless in front of his master's sarcophagus, his weapon held at chest level.
Then, suddenly, it awakened. Blue flames burned in its eyes as he trained his blade at the room's entrance, where a feline figure holding a scepter was now coming in.
"Come no closer! You are trespassing on the site of the Pharaoh's eternal slumber!"
The figure stopped at the Ushabti statue's command, but seemingly more out of respect than fear. As it turned out, the intruder was another living statue, made of brown stone. It was a Felidae statue... strange, as no Felidae statues were employed in the vicinity.
"Greetings, fellow guardian statue," the Felidae statue said. "I mean no harm. I was just exploring."
The Ushabti statue was unmoved. "This is not your territory. What leads you to contradict a guardian statue's nature so?"
"Extenuating circumstances forced me to leave my original home. It's a long and complicated story..."
The Felidae statue introduced himself as Guardian, and told the Ushabti statue all about his past: his original duty guarding a small temple, his flight from home following his sister's demolition, and his eventual adoption by the museum. The Ushabti statue bowed his head.
"You are extremely lucky, Guardian. You are the only one of your kind to be so exposed to the world outside. I can only imagine the sights you've seen... I... I wish I could join you."
Guardian smiled. "Perhaps that can be arranged. I can contact the museum and have them send a crew to pick up you and your Pharaoh. I'm sure they would love to see you added to their exhibit halls."
"You... you would do that for me?"
"Of course. Anything for a fellow guardian statue."
After a moment, the Ushabti statue smiled as well.
"Yes, please, Guardian! Make it happen!"
The two statues shook hands, and Guardian turned to leave. On his way out, he waved to his new friend.
"See you soon. I'll have to introduce you to my sister once I've got her repaired..."
